Dear wise and nurturing God,

As your beloved child begins a new school year,
pour out your blessings for a fun and fruitful experience.

Generate excitement for
new knowledge,
new people, and
new experiences.

Provide your insight and understanding.
Clear away distractions and anxiety.
Surround this precious person with your love.
Offer protection of body, mind, and spirit.

Instill courage to be a peace builder, following the teachings of Jesus.
Inspire imagination for creativity to flourish.
Infuse Christlike light love so that every encounter reflects your goodness.

Let's close out the summer strong!

Looking for a family event that's fun for both parents and kids? Did you play basketball in high school or college and are looking to show your kids your inner "Knicks in 5"? Want a chill place for your kids to practice their jump shot?

Welcome to the Holy Basketball Tournament!
Come join the PSUMC at the Parade Ground for a morning filled with thrilling basketball games and an exciting 3-point shot competition. There will also be pizza, official recognition of the winners, and much more (first come, first served).

First impressions matter. According to the Lewis Center for Church Leadership, "Radical hospitality is intentional hospitality that surprises and delights people by making them feel noticed, giving them personal attention, and providing excellent follow-through."

Park Slope United Methodist Church is on a busy corner in Brooklyn. People walk past us every day. Some are visiting for the first time. Some are lonely. Some are looking for community. Some just want to sit in a beautiful sanctuary for a while. Some are in the building with one of the groups who we share the space with.

Let's think through how to design systems and a culture for people to encounter God and each other in new ways. Bring your creativity and ideas.
