Sermon text: Acts 9:7-11
Sermon title: "Making the Best from the Worst"
Life can be full of detours, be they those associated with your job, your health, financial matters or relationships. Not all detours are bad; some are directed by the hand of God.
In the text, we find Saul, a man who thought he was doing the right thing. He was zealous about the law of Moses, even including persecuting Christians. God spoke to him when he was on his way to persecute more Christians. God took him from condemnation to commission.
Saul's conversion had three important parts:
1) He saw a light;
2) He heard a voice;
3) He obeyed the call.
Saul experienced the risen Christ at the end of his own personal detour.
Every sinner is in the dark until they hear the word of God. There is nothing like the voice of God, when you open your heart. God's voice is still speaking to us. He will speak to you specifically.
Saul obeyed the command and his name was changed from Saul the Persecutor to Paul.
You can make the best from the worst when you put your hand in the hand of God, to the gospel plow. He'll give you grace, peace and unthinkable joy. Paul became the world's greatest missionary. If He did this for Saul, He can do the same for you. Amen .
