63 years ago I was -7 years old. My Minister Of Music Emeritus (who is over 100 and still alive - Lilton Mitchell) played for Mahalia before Dr. King preached and my predecessor, the Late Dr. W.J. Hall, was just over King’s left shoulder about 15ft (see picture). Today, I was there. Imagining what it would have been like to be there 63yrs ago and hearing Sharpton and others who were, provide their perspective on our problems and progress. I was also there concerned, that our people lack the togetherness of yesteryear, which put me in a mindset of prayer. Praying that our people would recognize, from within, not from the PA, from within, not in their ears, but from their souls…the need to unite and succeed together. While leaving…walking away from the March, I asked my friend, Dr. Clyde Posley, “What will it take for our people to recognize and galvanize…to unify. To see the need to unite?” He said, “Pain”. To that my parting question to my People is….”How much more do you need to hurt?”
