FAITH FRIDAY ✨

Today is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary — one of the great feasts of the Church's year. Msgr. Malagreca points us this week to the Fourth Glorious Mystery of the Rosary: Mary's Assumption into heaven. He writes that the Glorious Mysteries invite us "to contemplate the victory of Jesus over sin and death" — and that Mary shares completely in that victory.

That's the word we want to end this week on: victory. Not a perfect week. Not a week without doubt or difficulty. But a week oriented toward something that doesn't end. As Msgr. Malagreca puts it, as we contemplate Mary in glory with Jesus, "we too long to behold Him as she does." May that longing be the truest thing about us as we head into this weekend.

THANKFUL THURSDAY 🙏

This Thursday, we pause to mark the memorial of Saint Maximilian Kolbe — a man who gave everything in love. And tomorrow, the whole Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption.

In this week's bulletin, Msgr. Malagreca reflects on the Book of Revelation's vision: "no more death or mourning, crying out or pain" when the fullness of Christ's Kingdom comes. That's what we're grateful for this week — not just the good things in our lives, but the promise underneath all of it. The hope that this isn't all there is. For young adults navigating loss, disappointment, or just the exhausting pace of modern life, that promise is something real to hold onto. Gratitude isn't just for the easy days. WISDOM WEDNESDAY 💡

Midweek, and we're still thinking about what Msgr. Malagreca shared in this week's bulletin: that the Assumption is "the completion of the Redemption." Mary's journey didn't end at the Nativity, or at the foot of the Cross, or even at Pentecost. Her maternal role continues forever, in the fullness of grace.

There's something quietly powerful about that for those of us in the middle of our own journeys — not at the beginning anymore, not yet at the end. The middle is where most of life actually happens. Where the choices are made, the character is formed, the faith is tested. Mary walked that middle ground too. And she was not abandoned in it. Neither are we. What does it look like to trust that the story isn't finished yet?

TEACHING TUESDAY 📚

This week, Msgr. Malagreca writes about Mary as "the sign of Christ's redemption" — and unpacks something worth sitting with: Mary is the one person, he says, "in whom Christ has always dwelt in fullness." Her Assumption isn't a separate mystery floating on its own. It's the completion of everything — the Immaculate Conception, the Motherhood of God, the Resurrection — all of it pointing in one direction.

For young adults still piecing together what faith actually means, that's a compelling thought. The mysteries of Mary aren't superstitions or add-ons. They're a coherent story about what full redemption looks like in a human life. And as Msgr. Malagreca puts it: "One day, you and I will be like her." That's the destination our faith is moving toward. 🙏

THANKFUL THURSDAY 🙏
Msgr. Malagreca points us this week to one of the most consoling truths of the Transfiguration: not only does it reveal who Jesus is, it also reveals who we are becoming. Drawing from St. Paul, he shares that Christ 'will refashion the body of our lowliness and conform it to His glory.' That's not just theology — that's a promise about us, personally.

On a Thursday in the middle of an ordinary week, in the middle of an ordinary life, that's something to pause and receive with genuine gratitude. We are not stuck as we are. We are being conformed — slowly, faithfully — to something glorious. Whatever feels unfinished or uncertain right now, the transformation is already underway. Today, we're grateful for a God who doesn't leave us where He found us — and for the sacraments and community that make that transformation real.

WISDOM WEDNESDAY 💡

Today is the Feast of the Transfiguration — one of the oldest feasts in the Church, celebrated in the East since the fifth century. Msgr. Malagreca points out something we might not have noticed: from August 6th to September 14th — the Feast of the Cross — is exactly 40 days. Just as Jesus came down from Mount Tabor and walked toward Jerusalem, this season invites us into what Msgr. Malagreca calls a 'little Lent.' A time of intentional preparation, not just the rush of late summer.

Most of us are in some kind of transition right now — new semesters, new jobs, new seasons of life. What if we used these 40 days with a little more purpose? Not in a heavy way, but with the quiet awareness that grace is available, and we can choose to walk toward the cross — and through it — with our eyes open. ✨

In this week's bulletin, Msgr. Malagreca shares a striking insight from the theologian Pius Parsch: at the Transfiguration, Jesus — who had lived as, in Parsch's words, 'a poor, ordinary, simple Jew' — momentarily revealed Himself in 'full divine splendor.' The disciples weren't just witnessing a miracle. They were being trained to hold onto that truth even when everything around them said otherwise — through the arrest, the trial, the cross.

For us as young adults, that training looks familiar. We carry our faith into workplaces and relationships and conversations where it's not always visible or celebrated. Msgr. Malagreca reminds us that the Transfiguration is 'heaven's testimony to Christ's divinity' — a testimony meant to sustain us precisely in the moments when following Him feels costly. We've seen the glory. That changes how we walk through the hard parts. 🙏
