Just a reminder that this Sunday begins our new worship schedule! The Traditional Service will be at 9:30 am and Contemporary Praise Service will be at 11:30 am. Next week, September 13 begins our All-Ages Learning Hour at 10:45 am. See you in church!

And the BUMC youth are off! Prayed up and ready for a week of serving at Evangel UMC’s Mega Kids Camp in Rochester, MN. We have a team 31 total heading out for the week! Prayers welcome!

Over the past few weeks we have welcomed 14 new members to BUMC (plus 3 children, bring the total to 17 new people in the BUMC community!)
We are so excited to be walking this life together, to grow in faith together, and serve God in community!

Father’s Day and Graduation Sunday at BUMC was an absolutely joyful morning! At first service we reflected on God as a loving father. At the second service we were challenged to “shift the paradigm” of fatherhood. In both services we blessed our graduates. And in the evening, the second service celebrated the men in our community at a cookout in the park.
We are so thankful for the many men at BUMC who have helped to raise and form us, who lead and serve.

Edit: So an afternoon update… We were surprised to receive the first ever “Be UMC Award.” We were recognized for our care for our neighbors in the midst of Operation Metro Surge and ongoing struggles. Church, you have been doing good work! Your larger church connection and Bishop see you!

This week Brooklyn UMC is well-represented at the MN Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church!

This week, No Fear Food celebrated a job well done after months of caring for their neighbors by providing food to some of our most vulnerable neighbors during Operation Metro Surge with a delicious dinner. Thank you for all of your good and important work.

This week a memorial tree was planted at the Noble entrance to BUMC in remembrance of the late MN House Representative and Speaker of the MN House, Melissa Hortman, who was tragically assassinated in the summer of 2025,. The tree was donated by the United Women in Faith of BUMC and selected by congregational vote at the Earth Day worship service.

This Sunday marks the one year anniversary of that tragic day. Today the service berries are ripening and will provide shelter and nourishment for our birds and animals for years to come.

Setting all politics aside, Representative Hortman was a resident of Brooklyn Park, a neighbor, a wife, a mother, and a beloved child of God. May her memory be a blessing.

Some mornings in worship our plans change because our children tell us they are called to lead. Today was one of those days. “Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me.’” Matthew 19:14 And praise God, they did. 😍❤️
