Artificial Intelligence and Our Faith: A Workshop on AI Literacy and Christian Ethics

What does it mean to be a faithful Christian in the time of artificial intelligence?

AI technologies are dominating the headlines and becoming a greater part of our everyday lives, but we don’t often get opportunities to reflect on AI as a faith issue.

Weijia Cheng, a former Silicon Valley software engineer and current student at the Boston University School of Theology, will walk us through the basic idea of artificial intelligence and introduce concepts from the Christian tradition that might help us establish a responsible relationship with this emerging technology.

Sunday, October 18 at 12:30pm in the Parlor, with a follow-up hybrid discussion the following day on Monday, October 19 at 7pm in the Lindsay Room and Zoom.

Fall Fellowship Weekend – October 9-11

It’s that time of the year when we gather for a weekend of fellowship at Aldersgate Camp in Rhode Island, just under 2 hours from United Parish.

Games (both inside and outside), hikes, gatherings for meals, apple picking, antique jaunts, and local fair expeditions are some of the things that happen during this time of fall fellowship.

Meet new friends, spend time with familiar friends, and take in the beautiful fall weather.

The weekend begins with Friday dinner, a full Saturday, and ends with Sunday worship and lunch farewell.

When: Friday, October 9 until Sunday, October 11

Where: 1043 Snake Hill Road, North Scituate, Rhode Island (Prepare for Friday rush-hour plus long weekend traffic; it can take anywhere from 90 mins to 3 hours to get there!)

More information will be sent out soon.

Questions? Contact the Gathering Team at [email protected].

This summer’s worship series features members and friends Reporting the Good News, however they see it in the world around them. We look to Jesus’ inaugural sermon (Luke 4:14-19) and Isaiah 61 for our guidance about what God’s kind of Good News looks like: liberation for all of us. Summer wors...

Shake, Wiggle, and Praise! Music for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Join us every Friday at 11am in the Choir Room for a joyful, 30-minute music and movement class designed for toddlers, preschoolers, and their parents or caregivers.

While this class is faith-based—incorporating uplifting songs, playful movement, and engaging stories—we are proudly progressive, radically inclusive, and deeply affirming of all people, families, and cultures.

Every child and grown-up will find a warm, welcoming space to explore rhythm, build early coordination, and grow together in a community rooted in love and diversity.

It is the perfect opportunity to bond with your little one, burn off some morning energy, and connect with neighbors.

Fall Jazz Sanctuary Concerts

Jazz Sanctuary returns for its second season with intimate one-of-a-kind performances in United Parish’s historic gothic sanctuary.

Spanning five nights from October to May, we will feature local jazz legends and some of the brightest rising stars in the international jazz scene.

Admission is "pay what you can" at the door, and directly supports our performing artists and fuels our mission to revitalize the sanctuary as a haven for music, community gatherings, and worship.

Fall concerts are on Friday nights, and are scheduled for Friday, October 23 and November 20 at 8pm.

Concert dates are still being finalized for February, March, and May of 2027, as we strive for a concert "rhythm" that works for everyone.

Tickets and more information about the lineups will be released soon.
