Hi everyone! The time has come to celebrate our very first Operation Christmas Child CHRISTMAS IN JULY! At Brooklawn, we love Operation Christmas Child- a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse that gives presents to children around the world - and uses the opportunity to tell them about the GREATEST GIFT: Jesus!!
Please know, we will be doing shoeboxes this year as we always have. You will be able to pick up shoeboxes to take home and fill by yourselves/with your family like always. But this year, we decided we wanted to do even more! So the Women’s Fellowship will be assembling and sending church-sponsored shoeboxes with the help of the VBS kids (who brought some great things for us to send) and all of you!
There are several ways to help!
1) Beginning Sunday there will be a sign-up sheet on the back table for you to commit to picking up some specific School Supplies during this month’s Back-to-School sales (think 50 cent crayons!) Sales have already started in some stores, so if you're out and and see them, we will be collecting 24ct crayons (Crayola for .50 is best!), markers, pencils, kid scissors, 1 subject notebooks, chalk, pens, coloring books, solar calculators, and pencil sharpeners.
2) I have put together an Amazon Wishlist for some things to make our boxes really shine. Buying things in bulk can often save a lot of money- even over dollar store prices! This Wishlist will be available into November, so there’s no hurry to purchase- unless you want to take advantage of Prime Deals this week!
3) Each box costs $10 to process and ship. If you’d like to contribute to that, you can make a check out to the church designated for Samaritan’s Purse.
4) I’m also accepting cash donations toward items on the Wishlist. Find me any Sunday!
