We’re excited to highlight Coach Jeff Lockner, Boys Golf Coach at Brandon Valley High School, who is all in for SD FCA Black Hills Sports Camp this summer.

When asked what he hopes athletes walk away with from camp, Coach Lockner shared:

⭐With help from our partner, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, we are happy to announce a combined $54,250 grant to the Brookings/SDSU chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). ⭐

Led locally by Collin VanderWal, the chapter serves students throughout the Glacial Lakes region. The funding will support a regional boys basketball tournament in Volga and help fund area representatives to expand FCA huddles in middle and high schools across Brookings and surrounding counties.

“The FHLB Des Moines Impact Fund, along with BankStar’s partnership, accelerates the impact FCA will have in the Glacial Lakes region of South Dakota,” said VanderWal. “This support allows us to shift our focus from fundraising to recruiting, hiring, and training leaders to serve our schools.”

FHLB Des Moines provides funding solutions to more than 1,200 members to support mortgage lending, economic development, and affordable housing. Since the Member Impact Fund launched in 2023, FHLB Des Moines has awarded more than $83 million in grants, generating over $113 million in combined support for affordable housing and community development needs across its district.

“For our 100th anniversary, we wanted to identify meaningful projects as a way to give back,” said Julie Puetz, BankStar’s Brookings Market President. “We are pleased that FHLB Des Moines was able to provide matching funds that expand the impact of these community investments.”
