One Great Hour of Sharing began in 1945 as an effort to raise one million dollars in one hour. It has grown to an annual multi-denomination effort to raise funds to feed the hungry, provide disaster assistance, and provide self-development of vulnerable people. We collect our OGHS on Easter Sunday during Children's time. Meanwhile, you might enjoy this radio address by President Harry Truman in 1949, supporting the effort.

The words from the Bible that have just been read to us carry a great message. It is one that influenced our fathers deeply, and guided them when they shaped our way of life. As a country, we have long understood that to help the suffering is to serve God.
