Phone (404) 237-3030 Am I welcome here? Yes! Where are you located? What should I wear?

As we gather at Christ’s table each week, the minister says, “This is Christ’s table, it is not our own. All who love the Christ and who long to love him more are welcome here” and that is what we strive to live out in community. Whatever your history and wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we hope to be a place where you feel welcome to worship, serve, explore, and question. The city of B

rookhaven is located just north of Buckhead. Our church is located at the corner of Peachtree Road and Lanier Dr., between Oglethorpe University and Patterson’s Funeral Home. The address is 4500 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30319. If the front parking lot is full, there are additional spaces behind the church. We also use the parking lot at Patterson’s funeral home for overflow parking, so feel free to park there as well. When should I arrive? We have coffee, water and snacks in the gathering area outside the Fellowship Hall each week beginning at 9:30 a.m. We have Sunday School for all ages beginning at 9:45 a.m., and Worship begins at 11:00 a.m. Wear whatever you'd like. You'll see people in blue jeans sitting beside people with slacks and golf shirts, while some people prefer to “dress up” for church. There is no dress code, official or otherwise. Just be yourself. What will the service be like? Our worship service lasts about an hour. Most Sundays, worship takes place in our sanctuary in a more traditional setting. On the second Sunday of the month, we worship together in our fellowship hall in a media and arts-infused worship setting. In both services, we read scripture, pray with one another, and usually have a sermon or message. We also take communion each week. Anyone is welcome to take communion if you choose. We sing music in a variety of styles and we frequently use drama and other types of artistic presentations in our worship. What's available for my kids? We have programs for children of all ages during Sunday School and worship, as well as other opportunities for learning, worship, and service throughout the year. During Sunday school and worship, we offer free childcare for children three and under. Our nursery is staffed by professional childcare workers. We offer a special worship experience, called Children Worship and Wonder, for children between the ages of 3 to 9, who are potty-trained. Children begin worship in the sanctuary with their parents and then leave for Children Worship and Wonder after the children’s sermon. What do you believe? While we hold many things in common as congregations and as individuals, you'll find that as Disciples of Christ, many of us come from diverse areas on the theological map. We believe that those differences don't divide us, but make us a stronger church. When people wish to join our church, we only ask one question: “Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, Savior and Lord?” We believe that everything else gets worked out in community. Will anyone bother me during or after I visit? We go to great lengths to ensure you feel welcome at Brookhaven Christian Church. We will be pleased to have you, but will not embarrass you or single you out in any fashion. If you leave us contact information on the attendance sheet attached to your bulletin on Sunday morning, we will try to follow up with you on your visit by email or phone. But we will not come knock on your door and we won't annoy you or try to intrude on your busy life. We also welcome you to ask questions of anyone in our congregation or contact one of ministers if you want more information. How do I get involved? Volunteer and ministry opportunities are advertised throughout the year. Twice a year we offer BCC 101, which is led by the senior minister. This class helps you get to know Brookhaven Christian Church, including its history, the Disciples of Christ, church membership, our ministries, and who we are as a community of faith. We would love for you to join us!

Rev. Adam out there getting it done! Notice our kids representing BCC. Have a great time Torrence, Maggie and Hannah.

Something still happens at camp. I believe that with everything I have. During June, my Monday Mindfulness will be a short reflection on the opening of each of our camps.

Today I had the privilege of stepping into the check-in for our Chi-Rho youth as 6th, 7th, and 8th graders arrived for a week at Camp Christian. The energy was palpable, but what struck me most was not the noise or the movement. It was the intentionality I witnessed in every direction. The Directors, Counselors, and Volunteers have prepared carefully for this week. Every station was staffed with warmth. Every interaction carried real presence. When young people feel that kind of attention and care, something shifts in them.

The youth themselves brought the joy I always hope for. Walking into registration, away from routines and screens, they seemed to recognize they were stepping into something different. Something held for them.

This week, these youth will rest in ways they do not rest during the school year. They will play without the edges of performance or competition. They will be inspired not by a stage, but by each other and by leaders who have shown up as genuine humans. That is what camp does. That is why this work is a gift.

God of care and covenant, hold these young people and their leaders this week. Keep them safe in body and spirit. Let them feel tended in all the ways they need. And let them know deeply that they are loved and known by one another and by you. Amen.
