When God Interjects

Have you ever looked back over your life and realized that what seemed like a coincidence was actually God at work? May be a chance meeting, an unexpected opportunity, a closed door that led to a better one, or a difficult season that positioned you for a greater blessing. In the moment, it may have appeared random, but later you could clearly see the fingerprints of God.

Seeded from a message preached at Crump Chapel for Friends and Family Day by Pastor Brandon Catchings (Thanks Again) .... Look at God’s Word….

Ruth 2:2–4 (NKJV)2So Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Please let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain after him in whose sight I may find favor.” And she said to her, “Go, my daughter.” 3Then she left, and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers. And she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech. 4Now behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, “The Lord be with you!” And they answered him, “The Lord bless you!”

Life does not always go according to plan. Naomi and Ruth found themselves in a season of loss, grief, and uncertainty. Ruth was simply looking for a field where she could gather enough grain to survive. She was not searching for Boaz, a husband, or a future blessing. She was just taking the next faithful step.

Verse 3 says, "and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz." To human eyes, it looked like chance… But in God's providence, there are no accidents. What seemed like a random field was actually a divine appointment.

Then verse 4 says, "And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem." At just the right moment, God interjected into Ruth's ordinary day. Boaz's arrival would become the turning point that changed Ruth's future forever.

Couple of Points gleaned from this powerful story…

God often works through ordinary moments. - Ruth was not in a worship service or on a mountaintop experience. She was working in a field. God frequently steps into our lives while we are faithfully handling everyday responsibilities.

God’s timing is always perfect. - Boaz arrived exactly when Ruth needed favor. God is never early and never late. He knows when to open doors, send help, and provide direction.

God’s intervention is bigger than our immediate need. - Ruth was looking for grain, but God was preparing a future. Sometimes we pray for provision, and God is working on purpose. We ask for help today, while He is arranging blessings that will impact generations.

The Encouragement is this …There may be areas of your life that seem ordinary, uncertain, or even accidental…. But God is still directing steps and arranging encounters. The same God who interjected in Ruth's story is able to step into yours. Keep walking faithfully. What looks like coincidence may actually be God's providence, and the field you're standing in today may be the very place where God reveals His next blessing.

Have a blessed Week!!

Be Good

It’s easy to be kind when people treat you right. It’s easy to love when love is returned….. But the real test of spiritual maturity is how we respond when we’ve been hurt, betrayed, overlooked, or mistreated. The world says, Get even!!! …..Flesh says…..Make them feel what they did to you……But God calls us to something higher.

Look at what God’s Word says:

Romans 12:17–21 (NKJV)17Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

In these verses, Paul closes this section of Romans with a powerful command. He warns believers not to allow evil to overcome them. That means bitterness, revenge, hatred, and unforgiveness can slowly take control of our hearts if we’re not careful. When we respond to wrong with more wrong, evil wins twice … think about it… first in the action done against us, and then in the reaction produced within us.

But God gives another way: overcome evil with good.

This does not mean pretending the hurt didn’t happen. It doesn’t mean allowing abuse or becoming weak. It means refusing to let darkness shape your spirit. It means choosing forgiveness over revenge, grace over hatred, and prayer over bitterness. Goodness becomes a weapon when it is led by the Spirit of God.

Jesus modeled this perfectly. While hanging on the cross, after being mocked, beaten, and rejected, He still prayed, “Father, forgive them.” Evil nailed Him to the cross, but goodness and love conquered the grave.

Couple of points to Overcome Evil With Good

Guard Your Heart From Bitterness - Pain that is not surrendered to God can turn into poison within us. Don’t let temporary hurt produce a permanent hardened heart.

Respond in the Spirit, Not the Flesh - Your first reaction may be anger, but the Holy Spirit produces self-control. Sometimes the greatest victory is walking away instead of striking back.

Keep Doing What Is Right - Don’t allow someone else’s wrong behavior to pull you out of character. Continue loving, serving, praying, and trusting God even when it’s difficult.

The Encouragement is this…..Every believer will face moments where evil seems louder than good. But Romans 12:21 reminds us that God’s way is still greater. Revenge may satisfy the flesh for a moment, but goodness led by God has the power to break cycles, heal hearts, and reflect Christ to the world. Don’t let what happened to you change who God called you to be. Evil is overcome when believers choose to walk in the character of Christ.

Have a blessed weekend!!

Fixing the Unfixable

Sometimes, and I think we have all had this experience, we think we have to clean ourselves up before coming to God. We try to fix our habits, hide our failures, and get stronger spiritually first. But Romans 5 reminds us that Jesus came for us when we were at our weakest.

Look at what Gods word has to say about fixing the unfixable, because if we could do it on our own, we would wouldn't need HIM

Romans 5:6-8 (NKJV)6For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

This doesn't need anything else, but what God word says... but think about that. Jesus didn't wait until we got it together. He loved us while we were broken, struggling, and far from Him. When we had no strength to save ourselves, Christ stepped in and took our place on the cross.

That's the beauty of grace. God's love is not based on our performance.... it's based on His character. The cross is proof that you are deeply loved by God, even on your worst days.
Because of Jesus, we are no longer enemies of God; we are reconciled to Him. We have peace, forgiveness, and hope through Christ.

The encouragement is this.... Don't let guilt convince you to stay away from God or not try daily to get closer to him,,,,. Run to Him. The same Savior who died for you while you were a sinner still loves you enough to carry you today and is waiting for your acknowledgement of what he did to Fix the Unfixable.

Have a blessed weekend!!
