Undercover Quilters is kicking off 2014 with an in-house workshop and Brown Bag Fabric Exchange. Join us on Monday, January 13 starting at 7 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 600 Dutton Mills Road, Brookhaven PA 19015. What is a Brown Bag Fabric Exchange? Bring a plain brown bag with a yard of non-holiday fabric. It can be one yard of fabric, or two half-yards, or four fat quarters. Fabric should be full-width. There will also be some surprises mixed in for a few lucky members!

A busload of Undercover Quilter gals (and guy!) plus special guests spent a lovely day at the Quilt Odessey show in Hershey PA today. Perfect weather, great quilts, fantastic vendors. Undercover Quilts is having a quilt show on Saturday October 26 and Sunday October 27 from 10 AM to 4 PM. The new season of Undercover Quilters is underway! Join us on Mnday, October 11 as we welcome speaker Sue Spargo, who will present a “Folk Art Quilts trunk show.” About the speaker in her own words: “Southern Africa has had a considerable influence on my life and creativity. I was born in Zambia and then, in the nearby country of South Africa, I received my education and trained to be a nurse. I soon moved to England; this shift between two very different environments and cultures inspired many of my designs. The stark contrasts between the arid beige and browns of the African bushveld and the lush greens of the rolling hills of Southern England have continued to be a rich source of ideas. I am influenced especially by the energy and color of traditional African designs. All these early experiences combined to stir my love of ‘primitive’ arts and crafts and grew into my focus on folk-art.” Check out Sue’s website at www.suespargo.com.

It's July! We have no official meeting this month, but that doesn't mean we aen't quilting! What projects are you working on? Are you thinking ahead to the 2011 Undercover Quilters Quilt Show and working on your award winning quilt? Going to any good quilt shows this summer (like the Hershey quilt show bus trip on July 24?) Undercover Quilters will end the "official" season with a salads and dessert dinner on June 14. (Yep, no entrees--why bother. And the calories in the desserts are cancelled out by the salads, right?). The guild challenge will also be due. The meeting starts earlier -- 6:30! If your last name starts with A through L, bring a salad. M through Z, bring a dessert. See you there!
