Health & Safety Precautions: In accordance with recent updates to CDC and state guidelines, we are updating our health protocols for worship effective Wednesday, March 2:
• Mask wearing is optional for all services while community infection rates are low to moderate.
• Masks are recommended for anyone at increased risk of contracting or spreading covid-19, including those who are not vaccinated, who are feeling unwell, or who are immunocompromised.
• Mask wearing may also be preferable in settings which are more crowded than we have experienced in the recent past, especially if social distancing is difficult. Please be mindful of those around you.
• Please continue to wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer.
• Covid-19 vaccinations and boosters are strongly recommended for all who can safely receive them.
• If you have been exposed to or tested positive for covid-19, please join us virtually.
• For those who cannot attend in person, all services are streamed for simultaneous viewing and then archived.
• Pre-filled communion kits will continue to be used at all services.
• Fellowship and coffee hour refreshments should be in individual packaging/servings.
• Enhanced cleaning practices remain in effect.

We will continue to evaluate all protocols as we move along together. Thank you for helping us care for one another to the best of our ability.

This Sunday, January 9, VLC and many churches around the world will celebrate “The Baptism of our Lord.” The day marks the beginning of Jesus’ earthly ministry as He was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Please feel free to join us in person or on-line (VLC-NY.ORG) at 9 am or 10:45 am.

We believe that Holy Baptism is not just plain water but “the water included in God’s command and combined with God’s word” and that it “works forgiveness of sins, rescues from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this, as the words and promises of God declare.” (see: http://catechism.cph.org/en/sacrament-of-holy-baptism.html)

If you or someone in your family has not been baptized, Village Lutheran Church is always open to sharing this sacrament. Baptisms are done at any scheduled church service or privately (at a mutually agreeable time). This invitation is for children or adults who have not yet been baptized. To get started, fill out the baptismal form online at https://www.vlc-ny.org/baptism-form or contact the church office. We would be delighted to help you or your child to receive this gift.
