Honoring the Life and Service of PO2 Darren Collins 🇺🇸
On October 4th, we will take a moment to honor and remember PO2 Darren Collins, a devoted serviceman of the United States Navy. Darren dedicated his life to serving his country, state, and the community he so dearly loved. A proud Broken Arrow (BA) native, his impact reached far beyond the Navy uniform.
In his honor, Broken Arrow Neighbors and his family will be hosting a food drive each year on October 4th! If you would like to donate:
-Peanut Butter
-Cereal
-Pasta Noodles
-Fruits and Veggies
From his early days in JROTC, Civil Air Patrol, and the Broken Arrow Police Department, Darren always went the extra mile for his community. Volunteering with BA Neighbors and the youth group at First Methodist Church in BA, he showed a heart of service at a young age. He and his siblings spent their high school and college years on mission trips, with Darren giving his spring break to serve the people of Houston after Hurricane Harvey.
His shipmates in San Diego shared touching stories about his ongoing kindness, whether bringing meals or helping others during PT. Darren's servant heart and genuine friendship were evident in everything he did. He often said he felt called to help others—and he lived that calling every day.
On a more personal note, Darren’s love for his family shone in the simple moments—especially around food and fun, like the time he made themed “green eggs and ham” for St. Patrick’s Day with the kids. They miss him deeply.
We invite the community to join us in honoring Darren's memory on October 4th each year. His service and kindness will never be forgotten.
Your neighbors in need and community cannot thank you enough, Darren 🇺🇸💙
