Happy Mother’s Day from Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church!

Today we give thanks to God for mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, godmothers, aunties, mentors, and all those who have loved us with a mothering heart.

Scripture reminds us that God’s love is tender, strong, patient, and faithful. And many of us first learned something about that love through the women who fed us, prayed for us, corrected us, encouraged us, and somehow knew where everything was in the house even when no one else could find it.

Today we honor the mothers who are with us, remember those who now rest in God’s nearer presence, and hold tenderly those for whom this day is complicated.

May God bless all who nurture, guide, protect, teach, and love. May your hearts be filled with joy, your homes with peace, and your coffee or tea cups with something still warm.
