Bristol Hope Assembly

Bristol Hope Assembly Multigenerational. Multicultural. One Family. A Shared Purpose. Helping to bring hope to all through Jesus. https://bristolhope.com Welcome to Bristol Hope Assembly!

We are a church in Bristol Borough which was founded in 1928 with a rich history of 94 years of empowering people in their relationship with Jesus and proclaiming the gospel. Here at BHA, we are followers of Jesus from various generations and ethnic backgrounds living in unified community with a shared purpose. We are more than a church, we are a family of Believers eagerly expecting the Kingdom o

f Heaven to be made manifest in our community. We are passionate in cultivating our relationship and identity with the Full Godhead: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The BHA community believes that all Believers have a role in the Kingdom of God. It is a family where your gifts and talents are appreciated and we are eager for you to learn and for you to also impart your passions in our fellowship. If you are looking for a church which believes in a family atmosphere, total submission to the Holy Spirit in both Worship and Life, the fullness of the Gospel, strong Biblical Teaching and a place where all believers are sons and daughters who have something special to offer the church and the world, then you have found a family. If you would like to know more about our Doctrinal Stances, please see the Assemblies of God’s Statement of Fundamental Truths.

Centrality

At times, it can become confusing what our calling in the Lord may be. We may ask questions like “What do you want me to do Lord?”; “What is my calling?”.

Although, these are all good questions, they often can produce a type of anxiety called singularity.

The answer to all questions is to be found in centrality. What is our central question to ask?

Join us this Sunday, as Pastor David meditates on these questions.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:9-10

Join us this Sunday with Haley Johnson!

On Pentecost Sunday, come find out what caused Elizabeth to cry out with revelation (Luke 1:42); Zachariah to prophesy over John (Luke 1:68-79); John to be counter culture and prepare the way for Jesus, and the disciples to speak boldly with signs and wonders.

Living Stones in an Age of Bricks:

As slaves in Egypt, the children of Israel were tasked with making bricks. Nameless slaves, making uniform bricks. But in Exodus 20, the Lord says that His people may not build altars from bricks or cut stones, but only uncut stones. This foreshadows the New Testament reality which Peter articulates: “Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
I Peter 2:4-5

Picking up on Pastor Dave’ message from last week, in an era of conformity, God is building a house of individuals- uncut living stones - who bear His image and are set apart as priests for Him.

Join us this week as we continue our teaching from last Sunday. As the Lord does a new thing, He needs a people with a new wineskin for the new wine!

Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
Matthew 9:17

The Least Taught Sermon

So… I can’t really say much about the sermon in this write up. If I did, I would ruin the suspense.
In short, there are themes which are taught often from pulpits around the world. And then, there are topics which are not really addressed.

This one is a theme taken from the latter category.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6: 10-13
