🌈 You are beloved. You belong.

At First Bristol, we believe the love of God is bigger than fear, shame, division, or exclusion. We are striving to be a church where all people are welcomed, affirmed, and invited to live fully into who God created them to be.

We know conversations like this matter deeply. For some, this message feels like hope. For others, it may raise questions. But at the center of it all is our commitment to follow Jesus through love, compassion, justice, and community.

There is a place for you here. Always. ❤️

This June, GBCS acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices of the LGBTQIA+ community in the pursuit of peace and justice nationally and globally. Pride Month was established in the United States to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. The United Methodist Church’s Social Principles affirm that human sexuality is a gift grounded in love, care, and respect.

We encourage members and congregations of the church to take time to learn from and listen to members of the q***r community, to practice inclusivity, and to stand in solidarity against attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community—especially those targeting youth. We call for the protection of the rights and personhood of q***r and trans people within both the church and public policy.

Ways to engage: Join the LGBTQIA+ monthly working group (fourth Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. ET), connect with your conference chapter of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) for resources, and participate in advocacy efforts in your local community and state.

Contact [email protected] to join Church & Society's LGBTQIA+ monthly working group.

“Our holy and gracious God,
help us to remember.
Help us to remember the sacrifices bravely made in which one has given life for another and for all.
Help us to remember those that stand in the breach where there is trouble
and in which conflict threatens to undo your good creation.
Help us to remember that we look for the day when every sword will be replaced by a plow, that all may be fed and live in your peace.
Forgive us every sin that makes for division and for war, and bring us all into your kingdom on earth as in heaven.
This we pray in Jesus' name.
Amen.”

Pentecost Sunday at First ❤️🔥

Today we celebrated the Spirit poured out on “All Flesh”

We worshipped in red, heard scripture proclaimed, gathered around tables together, and remembered that the Church is at its best when barriers come down and beloved community is formed.

Pentecost is more than the church’s birthday. It is God’s declaration that no one is outside the reach of grace, dignity, and belonging.

The Spirit is still moving.
Still speaking.
Still drawing us together.

“All means all.”
