Last Friday, our beloved Pastor Bruce Wilkinson went to rest in the Lord. He faithfully served the Williston, Bristol, and St. Albans SDA churches and communities for the last decade of his pastoral ministry. Even after retirement he continued to serve the Lord through his involvement in Native American ministries in the Greater New York Conference.

He will be greatly missed, and we trust that we will see him on that great resurrection morning when our Savior Jesus Christ returns.

Pastor Wilkinson's memorial service will be held here at the Williston SDA Church this coming Saturday, April 29 at 5 PM. Parking may be limited. There will be a potluck dinner to follow. A Zoom option has been included below and can also be found on our church website at willistonsda.org. Please note, the password to the Zoom is 7.

"The moralist, trusting in his own goodness, will be found wanting" (Ellen White). The moralist points the finger outward at others in order to evade detection of his own immorality. Moralism is rebellion against God masquerading as devotion to a cause—and it is the religion of our times. Social media is the "perfect" medium for moralistic posturing, offering the moralist the "perfect" tool for moralizing with judgement over others without ever having to actually do anything to relieve the suffering of others and implement relational patterns of justice and mercy in real life. Making moral pronouncements against others on social media is just the right kind of dopamine hit to keep one's conscience quiet enough so that the moral list did not tend to matters at home—the selfishness that strangles love in the marriage, the broken relationships with children, the actual moral violations done in secret that have never been remedied. As long as I keep railing on others for their perceived failures, I don't need to deal with my own actual failures. It's a dark and dirty business, all conducted in the name of righteousness. -Ty Gibson
