KofC7891

KofC7891 We are Catholic men building a bridge back to faith. There is much good and necessary work to be done We are men of faith and men of action.

From the moment of the Knights of Columbus' founding in 1882, charity has been its first principle. In 2015, the Knights of Columbus set a new all-time record for the 17th consecutive year. Our charitable donations increased from 2014 by more than $1.5 million to a new total of $175,079,192. In addition, we achieved our highest level of charitable service in 2015, volunteering more than 73.4 milli

on hours of service. The number of service hours contributed by Knights rose in 2015 by more than a million over the previous year’s total. Our charitable activities encompass an almost infinite variety of local, national and international projects. From international charitable partnerships with Special Olympics, the Global Wheelchair Mission and Habitat for Humanity to our own Food for Families and Coats for Kids projects and other local charities, the opportunity to work together with fellow Knights and their families is virtually endless. "We are answering Pope Francis’ call to go to the peripheries,” Supreme Knight Carl Anderson said. “We can reach half way around the globe to help those in need and we can reach to our neighbor next door. And we do that every day. That makes us witnesses to the faith." If you’d like to be a part of an international organization of more than 1.9 million Catholic men whose principal work involves helping others in need, we'd like to meet you and invite you to join us.

Please consider donating to our Council's fundraiser to restore a sacred Chalice of the beloved founder of the Home Visitors of Mary in Detroit.

Even if it is just a dollar, when combined, it will add up to help us complete this project, reunite the Chalice with the Sisters from HVM, and the rest will be a poured out blessing, symbolic of how God's love overflows from the cup to all of us.

If you can't donate...like this post...share this post. Read all the details about this amazing priest in the Zeffy Campaign linked below.

Restore the Founder’s Chalice: A Blessed HomecomingNearly a century ago, a newly ordained priest received a sacred gift from his family: a chalice presented to him at his ordination on June 8, 1930. This chalice belonged to Monsignor Ryan, a remarkable priest whose ministry touched countless lives...

When the Knights of Columbus was founded, many Americans looked with suspicion upon Catholicism but held the Catholic explorer Christopher Columbus in high regard. Blessed Michael McGivney and the first Knights chose Columbus as a namesake because he served as an important symbol of courage, unity and hope among American Catholics, particularly Catholic immigrants. Happy Columbus Day to all Knights on this federal holiday!

Happy Feast of the Assumption!

"Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death." The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians:
In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death. . . she is our Mother in the order of grace. - CCC 966

Respect for the human person entails respect for the rights that flow from his dignity as a creature. These rights are prior to society and must be recognized by it. They are the basis of the moral legitimacy of every authority: by flouting them, or refusing to recognize them in its positive legislation, a society undermines its own moral legitimacy. If it does not respect them, authority can rely only on force or violence to obtain obedience from its subjects. It is the Church's role to remind men of good will of these rights and to distinguish them from unwarranted or false claims. - CCC 1930
