Repent is a well worn word among church folk. Sometimes we use a word so frequently that the true impact of it's meaning gets lost in familiarity. Repentance, and its' root word repent, are words like that. When we consider the Greek word for repent, metanoia, and its' meaning we gain some insight into what God is truly calling us to: Metanoia a transformative change of heart. The prodigal was welcomed because he experienced metanoia; the Israelites entered the promised land because they experienced metanoia; anyone who is in Christ is a new creation because they experience metanoia. By the power of the Holy Spirit we can change, we too can experience metanoia.
