Dear friends in Christ,

The Bishop is coming! Please mark this Sunday on your calendar and plan to be here if you possibly can. Our Bishop, The Right Reverend Kimberly Lucas, will be with us for her visitation this Sunday, May 4. She will preach and celebrate Eucharist at our regular time of 10 AM. You won’t want to miss it.

Bishop Kym is a wonderful preacher and a wonderful supporter of St. Elizabeth’s, and we are excited to see and hear from her. Bishop Kym has a regular schedule of church visitations, and visits each church and other organization in the Diocese about once every three years. Bishop Kym will join us for a pot luck and question-answer session following the service. Please feel free to bring something to share. The Bishop has important dietary restrictions: no gluten or cow dairy, no bananas, grapes or raisins, no salmon or shrimp, only nitrate free meats. The Bishop *loves* bacon, but it must be nitrate free. If you want to bring something that doesn’t meet the restrictions, please label it clearly so she knows not to select that item. And bring your questions. If you want to know more about what’s happening in our diocese, or in the church at large, or what a bishop does, or why she wears the unusual hat, or how pizza fits into the story of her walk with Jesus, bring your question.

Our collected offering (outside of pledges) will be contributed to the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund, which enables the Bishop to offer assistance to individuals and organizations that contact her directly. Through this fund, she is able to assist in emergencies, and support the Gospel work of caring for people. Please make a donation if you are able.

As always, I give thanks each day for each of you.

Blessings,
The Rev. Terri Colburn, Vicar

Almighty Father, whose dear Son, on the night before he suffered, instituted the Sacrament of his Body and Blood: Mercifully grant that we may receive it thankfully in remembrance of Jesus Christ our Lord, who in these holy mysteries gives us a pledge of eternal life; and who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
