Thank you to everyone who joined us for worship today at Bridgewater United Methodist Church. This morning, we reflected on Jesus’ promise in John 14:23–29 through the message, “The Spirit Makes a Home in Us.” We were reminded that God’s Holy Spirit dwells within us, bringing peace, comfort, and guidance even in times of change and uncertainty.
We also celebrated the joyful reception of a new member, Jody Austin-Dominguez, into our church family. We give thanks for Jody and look forward to growing together in faith and service. May the peace of Christ be with you throughout the week.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Lunch & Learn with the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services. We appreciated the opportunity to learn about the many resources and support services available to older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers. A special thank you to our presenter, Amy Maritato, Community Educator, for sharing valuable information and helping us stay connected to resources that strengthen our community.

This Week's Scripture is from John 14:23-29:

23 Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words, and the word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me. 25 “I have said these things to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur you may believe.

Today we celebrated Pentecost Sunday, the day the Holy Spirit came with wind, fire, and power and formed ordinary people into a courageous, Spirit-filled community of faith. Our worship theme was “Formed by Fire” from Acts 2:1–21. We reflected on how the Holy Spirit still moves among us today, bringing courage where there is fear, hope where there is uncertainty, and new life where hearts feel weary. As we enter Memorial Day weekend, we also remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in service to others. Come, Holy Spirit, and renew your people again.
