The third Sunday of the month is an in-person service. We have many classes and groups meeting on Zoom. What is Unity Spiritual Center of Coastal Delaware all about? It’s about ‘coming home.’ This is the sentiment many feel, and often express, when visiting a Unity Center for the first time. Unity Spiritual Center of Coastal Delaware is affiliated with Unity Worldwide Ministries, headquartered in
Lee’s Summit, Mo. Unity was founded in 1889 in Kansas City, Mo., by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore.
“Unity has established centers of study and worship throughout the world where people discover and practice the Unity way of life. We address physical, mental and emotional needs through affirmative prayer and spiritual education. We serve those who seek inspiration and prayer support as well as those who use Unity teachings as their primary path of spiritual growth,’’ the Unity Worldwide Ministries website, www.unity.org, explained. The ministries teach the effective daily application of the principles of truth taught and exemplified by Jesus Christ, (As well as many of the other Spiritual Masters of the world.) Unity believes everyone has sacred worth, and strives to support its members and their spiritual growth — no matter their race, gender, age, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical disability, and sexual orientation.
“(W)e recognize the importance of serving all people in spiritually and emotionally caring ways. ... Our sincere desire is to create spiritually aware organizations that are nondiscriminatory and support diversity,’’ the Unity website stated. We honor all paths to spiritual awareness. Unity's Basic Beliefs are:
There is One Power and One Presence, God. Unity affirms the spark of Divinity in all. We believe that our thoughts create our experience of our world. Through prayer and meditation, we become more aware of the presence of God. Knowing spiritual principle is not enough, our goal is to consciously incorporate them into our lives. Unity Spiritual Center of Coastal Delaware intends to incorporate the philosophies of the Fillmore's in its weekly services as well as the weekly classes.
