Dads were in the HOUSE last night for the FOCUS Bridgeport Beardsley Father’s Day dinner!

Volunteers from Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Archangels Greek Orthodox Church, Saint John The Baptist Orthodox Church, St. George Orthodox Church, St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, St Vladimir Orthodox Theolgcl Smnry made it happen!

Glory to God for His provision so we could share this meal with our neighbors and God bless all dads on Father’s Day!

The bachelor's celebration continues as we celebrate the last of the college grads — and this next graduate is heading straight into one of the most extraordinary first jobs an engineer can land.

Next up:
George Kocadag ⚙️

From Sunday school to Teen SOYO, from a little boy in our pews to the fine young man standing before us today — we have watched George grow up at St. Nick's.

And now: a mechanical engineering degree in hand — and the United States Navy's submarine fleet waiting on his designs.

George has just graduated from the University of Miami with his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering — and this summer he begins his career as a Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Electric Boat in New London, Connecticut, the design and engineering hub for the most complex machines ever built: America's nuclear submarines.

During his time U of Miami, George was an active member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity — building brotherhood and leadership alongside his rigorous engineering coursework.

May God bless the work of your hands, sharpen your mind, and steady you in the precision your craft demands.

George, your St. Nicholas family is proud of you and we love you. 🙏

Carla is Abe Sakakini's twin sister. Double the fun. Double the celebrations!

From Sunday school classrooms to Teen SOYO retreats, from a little girl at St. Nicholas to the fine young woman standing before us today, we have prayed for you.

And now: a Bachelor of Science earned with honors — and law school waiting in the wings.

Carla has just graduated from Roger Williams University with her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice — with honors — and this fall, she begins the next chapter of her journey: law school.

A degree in criminal justice is not a degree chosen by accident. It is chosen by those who want to understand how justice works in the world — and who, perhaps, feel called to make it work better.

Carla, the prayers that surrounded you here will follow you into every lecture hall, every casebook, every long night of study ahead. May God grant you a sharp mind, a steady heart, and a spirit that never loses sight of why you began this path.

Abe has just graduated from the University of Connecticut with a double major in Management and Economics — and this June, he begins his career at Barnum Financial Group in Shelton, CT, one of the nation's most respected wealth management firms.

From the lecture halls to the financial planning tables of Fairfield County — Abe is building a career rooted in stewardship, strategy, and service.

We now turn to our bachelor's graduates — beginning with one whose calling will keep her right here in our own backyard.

Next up:
Olivia Salluhi, R.N. 🩺

It seems only yesterday we were honoring Olivia as a high school grad, and she has grown into a young woman whose St. Nick's family has prayed her through every exam, every clinical, every milestone.

And now: a nursing degree in hand — and the ER of our own Bridgeport Hospital waiting for her.

Olivia has just graduated from Central Connecticut State University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) — and this summer she begins her career as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Bridgeport Hospital, with plans to return for her Master's in Nursing down the road.

During her time at CCSU, Olivia made the most of every moment:
🩺 Active member of the Student Nurses Association, serving in community health and fundraising
🧘‍♀️ Pilates instructor — because evidently, four years of nursing school wasn't enough to fill her schedule

Olivia, the prayers that surrounded you here will follow you into every triage, every long shift, every patient whose hand you'll hold on what may be the hardest day of their life. May God grant you steady hands, a tender heart, and the grace to see Christ in every person He places under your care.
