The Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport

The Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport Leveraging Hope, transforming communities. Our efforts support the equivalent of over 2.5 million meals served to hungry people last year.

We are a faith-based, ecumenical social service agency with decades of history working in partnership with local congregations and other community partners. Programs include:

The Janus Center for Youth in Crisis assists youth in serious conflict with their families, schools or the juvenile court. Its mobile intervention team supports the program’s 57-site Safe Place network, responds to the 24-ho

ur Youth in Crisis Hotline, and provides counseling and connection to necessary services, including temporary respite care. Hunger Outreach supports 37 food pantries and feeding sites run by community organizations and congregations in the Greater Bridgeport community. Bridge Building Ministry focuses on engaging leaders, both youth and adults, from all sectors of the community in facilitated dialogue to cultivate respect and tolerance for religious, cultural, ethnic, and economic differences and foster understanding and collaborations for the betterment of our Greater Bridgeport community. Activities focus on areas of common interest and concern. Bridge Building is also one of three interfaith partners in a “Tent of Abraham” series, and is engaged in community organizing through the Connecticut Sponsoring Committee.

Greetings!

Tuesday evening at a FaithActs for Education meeting we received the awesome news that this year we were able to secure - not just an additional $100M, and not just an additional $170M, but over $190M for public education in CT! - primarily for Hartford, BRIDGEPORT, and New Haven!!!

We also found out that FA is the first to secure the participation of all 3 gubernatorial candidates for a panel discussion - on 7/14 at 6 pm at Cathedral of Faith, 2319 Fairfield Ave in Bpt. (The fact that we are having a democratic primary is significant since Lamont is the first incumbent governor to face a primary since Ella Grasso in 1978!)

Space is limited so if you want to attend this important and historic meeting, pls RSVP ASAP. Here’s the link:
