We are continuing our series about walking like Jesus. Yesterday we studied Luke 5:17-26, where four men bring their paralyzed friend to Jesus for healing. Jesus forgives the man's sins, then heals his paralysis. While we can't forgive sins, and I've never been able to heal anyone, there are a lot of things we can learn about who Jesus is and how He works.

When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed.

Luke 8:47 NASB95

She could not escape notice. Jesus noticed her. He SAW her. She mattered. She was not invisible.

Jesus sees you, too. You matter to Him. He knows your hurts. He knows your sins. He sees the scars, and the mistakes, and the insecurities. And He loves you anyway. Romans 5:8 says, "But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." He sees you as you are, and He still loves you!

Yesterday, we continued our series, "Walk," with a look at Luke 8:40-56. Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus's daughter, who was dying. Along the way, a desperate woman comes to Jesus for healing. Jesus was in a hurry. A girl's life was on the line. He still stopped to help this woman in need.

In Mark 4, we see Jesus asleep in a boat while a storm is raging and swamping the boat. His disciples wake Him up and ask, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" (v 38) Jesus calms the storm, and then asks them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" (v 40)

Yes, the disciples were afraid of the storm. What is so important, though, is what they say in verse 38. Jesus, don't you care that we are about to die? Their biggest fault here is not that they doubted Jesus's power; it's that they doubt Jesus's concern for them.

We still see this today. When we go through hard times, we immediately question God's motives. God, why are you making me go through this? God, why don't you care about me. God, if you really cared, You would spare me this.

We forget that God knows what we need better than we do. We focus on our immediate happiness, but God focuses on our eternal holiness. God is much more concerned with our holiness than our happiness, so He allows things into our lives that will shape us and make us more holy, more like Jesus.

The disciples questioned Jesus's care for them, and we do the same. We need to remember that, at the end of the day, God wants us to be holy. Being holy gets us more of Jesus. And that's worth all the pain and suffering.
