Men of David (MOD) are 8 Men from Mt Aery Baptist Church in Bridgeport, CT and south group Baptist Grove Church in Raleigh, NC that are gifted Liturgical Praise Dancers demonstrating Faith through Movement. They are under the instruction of Anointed Choreographer Sister Denise Hanks. These Men of David are Deacon Fred Nielsen, Minister Michael Walton, Brother Malek Simpson, Brother D’Andre Haynes
and Brother Kevin Jackson. The Story began in 2014 when Brother Greg McBroom suggested that the Men Dance for the MABC Men’s Day in June of that year. We enlisted the help of Sister Hanks to come up with a presentation that would demonstrate "Unashamed Love for the Lord" as shown by the men of MABC. What happened next was an example of God's awesome plan. Our effort was derived from the biblical story of David. A man after God's own Heart. Scriptural reference…
2 Samuel 6:14 (NIV) Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might…
An ephod was a priestly garment worn over a simple robe; David just had simple (humble) clothing, not his kingly garb that would have designated him as above the others, he was dressed as the rest of Levites bearing the ark. David humbled himself before his Lord and the ark. Like David, MOD comes to the Lord with a child-like spirit of humility to offer a sacrifice of praise in the form of dance stimulating the rapture of our hearts signifying the joy of the Lord which is our Strength.
