The Saint Padre Pio Society & Prayer Group, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, is a not-for-profit organization, founded in 2006 by Reverend Alfonso Picone, former Pastor of St. Margaret Shrine, for the purpose of promoting devotion to St. The building of a St. Pio of Pietrelcina Memorial Shrine which houses a life sized bronze statue of Padre Pio brought over from Italy was completed in 2012 and inaugur
ated in 2013 by His Excellency Bishop Frank Caggiano is to benefit the entire community and with the mission “To make the Padre Pio Sanctuary a pilgrimage shrine where people can come to pray and reflect upon the many blessing of St. Padre Pio and the tenants of the Roman Catholic Church”. The St. Padre Pio Society holds an annual feast day Mass and celebration in remembrance of the death of St. Pio of Pietrelcina in September as well as various other spiritual events, day trips and pilgrimages.
