This Sunday's homily on Zaccheus Sunday... and another beautiful poem from Karen Kelley.

God winked softly at Hannah
After a wait of harrowing dark.
That heart, so tender, beloved,
He would make her a plank of the Ark.

Devotion, first and absolute,
Requests, prayerful pleas, yet, a ruby.
She promised precious fruit
To Shiloh, as it should be.

Promises kept when held in Trust.
His power in precise fidelity.
Samuel, a long cooperative plan
As God hoped to farm through His seed.

Many parts of a beautiful chapter,
Her two, whispers from old, astound.
Only by perfectly chosen blessings
Could God's forever be laid down.

Dear sweet fountain, that Anna,
She gushed by His hand through generations.
His beautiful maternal gifts, our steps
To that forever heavenly station.

Another lovely Poem from our gifted Kathy Kelley...

“I hope everyone is well and wish all a great beginning to February. Our Father in heaven loves us so much! Sharing another new poem. “

They said, "So you think you're God?"
Jesus, silent, stood stoic.
Leaving heaven to join us,
He, in no way boasted it.

Good is good, tested.
Giving, not often real.
The survival mode of humans
Denied, not concealed.

The hand knows about the other
As both are busy.
To insist true generosity,
Yet claim the hidden b***y.

Unspoken, as she passed the box,
The widow gave her last penny
The rich man boasted on his gift,
Obscenely gloating to many.

Jesus smiled and gave a life.
His lips and hands gave life.
Never protective or militant,
Receiving mostly strife.

His hand, majestic, held promise.
His example, more gain by silence.
Ultimately, the most important character
Will be the soft hand of kindness.

This Sunday we commemorated the twenty million Russian martyrs of the modern age. Father Ceraphim’s also asked us to always remember the least among us.

"The world is against you, Athanasius!"
"Then I am against the world."

Saint Athanasius (Jan 18/ Jan 31) didn't "go with the flow". Fighting against the A***n heresy, St Athanasius defied 4 emperors and lived with the constant threat of death. More than 20 of his 50 years as bishop were spent in exile.

St Athanasius, radiant beacon of Orthodoxy, pray to Christ our God to give us courage to stand for truth against all compromise.
