This month, we are spotlighting our Refugee & Migrant Ministry (RMM)! 🙌

In 2019, a group of BUMC members became concerned about the needs of immigrants and refugees and started RMM to live out God’s call to welcome our neighbors, no matter who they are. From hosting educational classes and donation drives to partnering with organizations like Connecting Kindness and Ebenezer UMC, RMM creates opportunities for our congregation to learn, serve, and care for our community. This Sunday’s Communion offering will be benefiting RMM. Stop by the tables in the Chapel Nartex and Haney Hall Breezeway to meet members of the team and see how you can get more involved!

Plus, join the team for a congregational meeting with Donna Pack, Director of Connecting Kindness, on September 17 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Donna will be sharing insight on the experiences and challenges of immigrants and how we can better understand how to support them. Earlier this week, our staff spent some time to recharge and enjoy being together outside of the day-to-day. Rev. Casey Orr guided us in a meaningful reflection, reminding us of Jesus’ faithfulness throughout the church. We also partnered up for a fun (and funny!) drawing exercise! Then, our Missions & Outreach team led us in a service project packing hygiene bags for our neighbors at Connecting Kindness, GraceWorks Ministries, and Monroe Harding. We are so grateful for this day of fellowship and service!

Yesterday, McKade Stewart (Director of Student Ministry) passed the Truly Terrific Trumpet to Sarah Kate Wolf! 🎺

As the Communications Project Manager, Sarah Kate faithfully works behind the scenes to keep our departments connected, projects organized, and deadlines on track. She brings attention to detail and dedication to everything she does, ensuring our church’s vision and messaging are communicated effectively. Sarah Kate pours time and care into each of our ministries to help them operate at their best, and we are beyond grateful for her servant heart and impact on our church!

The Truly Terrific Trumpet is a recognition among our staff for coworkers who go above and beyond the call of duty to serve our community and Kingdom!

If you’re looking for a place to go deeper in God’s Word and grow in your understanding of the Old and New Testaments, our Disciple I Bible Study is for you. Hear from BUMC member Jesse Hunter on how this class impacted his faith and connected him to a community of people across generations. 📖

This 34-week class begins next Wednesday evening, September 2, from 6-8 p.m. Registration is $45 and includes the study book. Anyone is welcome to come and be a part of this journey through Scripture!
