For better or worse, social media is not going away. We can use it for good or for ill. I appreciate the teaching of Elder Bednar:
"Our social media messages should seek to edify and uplift. I exhort you to sweep the earth with messages filled with righteousness and truth."
For better or worse (probably much better) this is my last week as the Admin of this Antioch Stake page. I appreciate all those who have helped run the page. I am especially thankful for those of you who have communicated through this medium.
My mantra has been to make our little part of the social media world a good place, representing the values of disciples of Jesus Christ. I believe it has been a goal met thanks to the good people of this Stake.
In 6 years the number of those who follow this page has quadrupled in size. We have near 1,000 followers and hundreds of posts, yet I can count the number of required edits or removals on one hand!
Through this page and the associated ward pages we have communicated the happy such as missionary calls/homecomings, Apostolic visits, Temple openings and the many, many, many acts of good works in the Stake community. Also the sad such as passings of loved ones, and when the world's conflicts impact the Church.
Most of all, we have tried to remember we are truly all one in Christ, doing His work, bringing others the joy of His Gospel. Thank you all. Keep supporting "the good" and working to make the Antioch Stake community a better place. "Be strong and of a good courage, for the Lord God is with you withsoever thou goes."
