The Apostle Peter, who traveled with Jesus for over three years, described him as “unblemished and spotless.” The Apostle John would say of Jesus, “in him is no sin.” It would be safe to say, a heart like Jesus, we do not have.

Maybe what we need more than ever, is more of Christ? More of his heart for the world. What if it’s not more self-goodness and self-righteousness, more religious platitudes and rote church attendance, but a real encounter with the person of Christ?

Next Sunday (1/7) we begin a months long series called The Heart of Christ; a survey of stories found in the canonical Gospels, of Jesus caring for sinners & sufferers based on Matthew 11:29 where Jesus says of himself, “I am gentle and lowly in heart.”

Join us on Sundays at 9a as we seek the heart of Christ.

Advent means arrival. Christ arrived and is waiting for a weary world to trust in Him.

This Advent season we will renew our minds as we believe he has come, he is with us, and he will be with us forever.

May we not treat Jesus as one who has not yet come or is not yet with us. He is with us, he has arrived, and he offers the world his hope, his peace, his joy and his love.

Malachi begins this Sunday; 10/1.

Approximately 400 years before the coming of Jesus, Malachi wrote a prophecy giving a portrait of the coming Messiah and the blessings he would bring.

He begins with the words, “I have loved you,” says the Lord.” The immediate and sharp response of the people is, “how have you loved us?” In this single question the human heart is exposed in quite possibly the most accurate way in all of scripture.

God has grievances. He indicts His people in their lack of honor, obedience and love. Malachi’s 55 verses are a wake-up call to renewed fidelity to God and his purposes.
