Classic soup mixes are great meal-starters. These delicious chicken meatballs are served with a little broth, veggies, and a mixture of pasta, peas, and beans. Perfectly comforting for cold nights!

Minestrone Chicken Meatballs

INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground chicken or turkey
1 egg
1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
2 tablespoons olive oil (optional – makes meatballs more moist and yummy)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons oil
1 package Manischewitz Minestrone Soup Mix
1 (15-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes
1/2 cup frozen cut green beans
2 to 3 cups Manischewitz Vegetable or chicken broth

DIRECTIONS
Combine ground chicken, egg, panko, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a bowl.
Heat two tablespoons oil in a skillet. Form the mixture into balls and brown on all sides in batches.
Remove the meatballs from the pan and place into a bowl. Repeat with remaining meatballs mixture.
Pour the minestrone mix into the skillet along with the diced tomatoes and two cups of broth. Cook until the mixture is tender, adding another cup of liquid as needed.
Pour in the green beans and add back in the meatballs. Cook until most of the liquid is absorbed.

From Bay Area Jewish Healing Center

Dear Beloved Friends,

We need your DIY/craft help!

Beginning in 2009, our “Holidays in an Envelope for Jewish Hospital Patients” program has delivered hundreds of High Holy Day, Passover and Chanukah Envelopes to 27 hospitals. Filled with liturgy, essays and other ritual and festive items, the Envelopes provide spiritual and emotional support to the patient. This is especially important this year when patients not only cannot be in their favorite seats at synagogue but they also have limited, if any, access to their friends and family visitors.

You can help make things feel better—even for a just moment. Make a card or cards for us to include in our High Holy Day Envelopes.

Here are the details:

Make a High Holy Day card of any size out of heavy-ish paper such as construction paper (if you don’t have it handy any kind of paper is just fine). Fold it and draw, collage, paint or otherwise decorate the outside of the card. This is a great project to do with kids as well.
Write a note inside and, if you like, sign your first names. Please do not include any personal information such as your full name or address. To get you started, here are some suggestions:

Your community is sending good wishes to you during this holiday season;
I hope you have an easy holiday;
Thinking of you during this holiday season;
Our thoughts and prayers are with you this holiday;
Please avoid phrases like "get well soon" or "best wishes for a speedy recovery."

Mail your card(s) to us and we will include them in a Holidays in an Envelope. Send to:
Bay Area Jewish Healing Center
2530 Taraval Street, Suite 202
San Francisco, CA 94116
Attention: Gail/Abra

Your simple gift of a High Holy Day card that you have created will truly help Jewish patients feel more in connected with their community, especially during this time of pandemic, when being a hospital patient is isolating and lonely. We are hoping for 260 cards so please make yours today!

Experience: A traditional sukkah, shake the lulav, learn, and rest in the midst of hustle.

In the news: The Salesforce sukkah was even profiled in this excellent article.

When: It’s open until Tuesday evening (Oct 22)

How to find it: When you enter the Salesforce park by Starbucks, face toward the park (away from Starbucks), turn left and walk all the way to the end.

What is it: A sukkah is a foliage-covered hut where people come together in unity in celebration of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. All are welcome. This amazing sukkah was sponsored by Faithforce and Chabad SF. It is the first of its kind in a public space in San Francisco.

What happened yesterday: Hundreds visited the sukkah and dined on amazing Kosher food by the amazing Frena Bakery. Jews, Christians, Muslims, Atheists, strangers, elderly, and children all gathered in a homemade hut beneath the skyscrapers of Uber, Salesforce, and Facebook -- breaking bread together, laughing, and learning. It felt like a home and a family.

For the first time, software giant Salesforce is celebrating Sukkot by erecting a sukkah at Salesforce Park, the tree-lined public green space stretching for four blocks above the transit center in downtown San Francisco. Chabad of San Francisco and Faithforce built the sukkah on Wednesday morning a...
