Jesus’ calling to His first disciples follows the same pattern our Savior uses today. His invitation to follow Him remains steadfast and his question remains the same: “what are you looking for?”

Today in CK we talked about how Jesus is the all-sufficient answer to that question and the only One worth following!

Temptation is something that even our youngest disciples can understand! We all struggle with temptation, whether it’s the temptation to lie to our parents, to sneak that candy we know we shouldn’t have, to compromise our values to fit in… temptation is always around us. Even Jesus was tempted… so how did He handle it? “IT IS WRITTEN…”

We encourage you to take the time this week to ask your kids what temptation looks like for them and help them identify some “it is written” memory verses to pray during those moments.

“Why did Jesus get baptized if He never sinned?” It’s a good question - even John asked it in our story today! Jesus’ baptism modeled how His followers are to publicly profess their faith in Him! Baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality in the life of the believer.

What do your kids want to be when they grow up? Have you known since before they were born? John’s parents did! God gave him a very important job even before he was born… to prepare the way for the Lord!

Today we learned all about what that meant… be sure to dig deeper in discussion with your kids this week!

Parents, does it make you feel a little better about your own parenting to know that Mary and Joseph accidentally left Jesus behind?!? Well that’s what your kids learned about today… and spoiler alert: it wasn’t an accident at all! Jesus wasn’t being disobedient, He was “doing the Father’s will”!
