Today marks 25 years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Today, our gates stand open as a place of quiet reflection. We pause to remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the brave first responders who ran toward danger, and the families whose lives changed forever.

If you are looking for a peaceful space to reflect, pray, or remember a loved one today, our grounds at Miller-Woodlawn are open for you. We especially hold space in our hearts for the local veterans and service members resting peacefully on our hillsides who dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom.

Answer to this week's Trivia:

The correct answer is B. Funeral services cannot start without the legal next of kin giving permission. In fact, the legal next of kin is the person who begins the process when someone passes away, including choosing the funeral home. It doesn't matter who has the insurance policies or the money; nothing can move forward until the legal next of kin is involved. Ideally, the person paying and the legal next of kin will agree. Remember, a Power of Attorney has no authority once a person has died.
