This Rock Church - Kitsap The Bible is the foundation in everything we say, do and teach.

The Word of God as our guide, we endeavor to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that compels people to give their life to Christ resulting in godly transformation & positive change.

A couple weekends ago, some of the women of This Rock Church were blessed to step away from the busyness of everyday life and spend time resting in God’s presence, fellowshipping deeply with one another, and being reminded that God still heals broken places 🤍🌿

Throughout retreat, we heard powerful messages about our relationship with God being a bilateral commitment — not just asking God to move in our lives, but also surrendering ourselves fully to Him. We learned the difference between conviction and condemnation: conviction draws us lovingly back to God, while condemnation tries to keep us trapped in shame. Most importantly, we were reminded that our identity is not found in our past, our pain, the opinions of others, or the brokenness we’ve walked through… but in Christ alone.

There is something so healing about separating yourself from the noise of life long enough to hear God clearly again. In the stillness of His creation, in worship, in tears, in laughter, and in honest conversations, God met so many women exactly where they were.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3

This retreat was a reminder that God is still restoring, still healing, still calling women back to Him, and still making beauty from brokenness. We are so thankful for every woman who opened her heart, every speaker who poured into us, and every moment spent growing closer to one another and to God.

Thank You, Lord, for meeting us there 🤍✨

Today we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, spiritual mothers, mother figures, and mothers-to-be who help make our church feel like home. This special slideshow is a small glimpse into the love, comfort, strength, wisdom, and faith that each of these women carry so beautifully.

So much of what makes This Rock Church special is built through the prayers of mothers, the nurturing hearts of women who serve quietly, and the love that reflects the heart of Christ. Their kindness comforts, their faith encourages, and their care helps guide the next generation step by step. 🪨✨

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; and she shall rejoice in time to come.” – Proverbs 31:25

Today we honor the women who love deeply, pray faithfully, serve selflessly, and continue to build up their families, their homes, and this church through God’s grace. Thank you for every prayer, every sacrifice, every encouraging word, and every act of love that points others toward Christ.

May you feel seen, celebrated, and deeply loved today. Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at This Rock Church🌸💛

Tuesday night Bible study was powerful and encouraging. Pastor Timothy Thomas taught from 1 Kings chapter 13, reminding us that when God tells you to do something, obey His voice and don’t allow anyone to deter you from His Word.

We also talked about Elijah and Enoch — how they walked so closely with God that they were “no more” because God took them. What a reminder to stay in step with God daily.

Other powerful points from the lesson:
• Your work is your mission field
• Don’t glorify yourself — glorify God
• The Holy Spirit is the earnest/deposit of what’s to come
• In the twinkling of an eye… be ready
• Memory Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:51

Bible study challenge accepted!
By August, Pastor Thomas challenged members to memorize the names of all 66 books of the Bible in order. TRC members are on board, and the challenge has officially been accepted! 📖🙌🏾

🔥 **WHY JESUS?** 🔥
Pastor Shannon’s Sunday Sermon

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1 KJV

This generation is taught to accept every belief, every lifestyle, and every god — as long as it is not Jesus alone. Culture calls it inclusion, but the Bible warns against serving other gods.

From Egypt in Exodus to the world today, the enemy has always tried to pull people away from the truth. But there is still only ONE name with the power to save, heal, deliver, and set people free — JESUS. 🙌

“Neither is there salvation in any other...” — Acts 4:12 KJV

⚔️ Jesus over fear.
⚔️ Jesus over addiction.
⚔️ Jesus over sickness.
⚔️ Jesus over heartbreak.
⚔️ Jesus over trials and tribulations.
⚔️ Jesus over EVERY false god.
⚔️ JESUS OVER EVERYTHING.

One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. — Philippians 2:10-11

The question is not if you will serve something — the question is who will you serve?

“Choose you this day whom ye will serve... but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15 KJV

Some Sundays you plan… and then there are Sundays where God reminds you it’s always been His plan 🙌🔥

Before service even began, a young boy came with a desire in his heart to be baptized—and we had the honor of witnessing him step out in faith and give his life to the Lord. There is nothing more powerful than seeing a heart respond to Jesus like that 💛

In the middle of service, the Holy Spirit moved and our pastor was led to call an altar call. The atmosphere shifted as people began to pray, surrender, and seek God. Moments like that are why we remain sensitive to His voice and His leading.

We also received a powerful word from Reverend Daniel’s on the difference between godly love (agape) and brotherly love (phileo), and it challenged us to ask ourselves—what kind of love are we truly showing toward God?

This is what happens when we make room for Him to move.

If you want to experience the undeniable presence of God, we invite you to join us. Sunday service starts at 11 AM—we would love to worship with you.

Ain’t God good? Won’t He do it! 🙌

Last night we gathered for our annual Holy Week Passover meal with our church family, and what made it even sweeter were the surprise visits from friends in the faith who came and joined us. Just one of those nights where you could feel the love in the room.

We took time to learn and reflect on the meaning behind the meal—the foods, the history, and the weight of that moment when the children of Israel ate prepared and ready for what God was about to do.

There was a reverence to it… but also so much joy.
Laughter, connection, and gratitude around the table.

Grateful for fellowship.
Grateful for the household of faith.
And always, grateful for Jesus and His sacrifice.

Trusting God When You Can’t See the Way…

What a powerful lesson in our children’s ministry on Sunday at This Rock Church!

Sister Shelby led our kids walked through the story of Job—learning what it means to trust God even when life doesn’t make sense.

To bring it to life, they:
-completed activities blindfolded—learning to trust without seeing
-worked together to solve a puzzle face-down—reminding us that God sees the full picture, even when we don’t

The takeaway?
Faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does.

We are so proud of our young disciples who are learning, growing, and building real faith early. This next generation is something special ❤️

Because pouring into our children isn’t secondary…
it’s sacred work.

There’s something sacred about slowing down and really sitting in the Word… and these last week of services have been just that as we focused on John 13.

We didn’t just read it… we let it read us.

**Jesus — fully God — took the lowest place in the room.**
Not by accident.
Not for show.
**Intentionally.**

The One with all power… chose a towel.

In a culture where foot washing was reserved for the lowest servant,
Jesus flipped the expectation of what leadership looks like.

He didn’t just teach it —
**He demonstrated it.**

“If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet…
you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”

This is where it gets real.

We’ve been reminded:

* Humility is not being a doormat — it’s having a right view of ourselves before God
* You cannot hold on to pride and still pick up the towel
* The blessing is not in hearing… **it’s in doing**

There’s no handle on the door of the human heart — it has to be opened willingly.
And humility is the posture that lets God in.

As we prepare for **Good Friday (April 3)**, we’re not approaching this casually.

We are stepping into a **Foot Washing Service** —
not as tradition, but as obedience…
as reflection…
as a willingness to say:

“Lord, make me like You.”

This is about laying down pride.
Serving one another.
And honoring the One who showed us how.

If you’ve never experienced this before… come.
If you have… come again with fresh eyes.

Because this isn’t just a moment.
**It’s a posture.**

Pastor Shannon Thomas Sunday’s Sermon and This Rock Church
1/4/2026

Faith will be tested—but testing doesn’t mean failing.
This morning’s word reminded us that faith is not about feelings. Faith is about trusting God even when emotions, circumstances, or logic say otherwise. Scripture tells us plainly: without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6). Faith requires us to seek God diligently, not conditionally.

We don’t always get to see before we believe. In fact, believing without seeing is evidence of a deeper trust—one rooted in divine connection, reconciliation, and obedience.
-Faith is a weapon.
-Magic is an illusion—but faith is real.
-The same tempter approached Eve and Jesus, but only one stood firm in faith.
-Faith directed toward anything other than God becomes an illusion.

Faith is spiritual currency.
What (or who) you put your faith in determines its value.

Let today’s faith be greater than yesterday’s.
Not because life is easier—but because God is faithful.🙏🏾
