What a way to enter Anniversary Week! 🙌🏾🔥

This past Sunday, This Rock Church was blessed by the presence and ministry of Pastor Apollos Githinji of Ruiru, Kenya. In so many ways, he came as a forerunner—a messenger sent ahead with a prophetic word that encouraged, strengthened and affirmed the house as we prepare to celebrate our Second Church Anniversary.

And GOD WAS SPEAKING!

The word ministered corporately to the house and personally to those gathered, with a resounding message of GRACE-grace that enables us to go beyond our own human sufficiency; grace that gives us vision to see and seize the future; and grace that connects us to the presence of God and empowers us to accomplish what He has called us to do.

For a church that is still young, still growing and just getting started, what an affirmation of our anniversary theme:

GOD’S GIVEN PURPOSE — BUILT FOR THIS. 🪨

We may be small in number and early in our journey, but purpose is not measured by size or age. God knew what He was building when He established this house, and His grace is sufficient for every assignment attached to it.

Pastor Apollos came ahead of our anniversary celebration with a word that seemed to underscore what God has already been speaking over This Rock: There is more ahead. There is Kingdom work to do. There are people to reach. And there is purpose to fulfill.

We thank God that another souls went down in Jesus’ Name & for sending a messenger with an on-time word to the house. We received it—and we move forward with grace, strength and obedience, expectant about what God will do next!

GRACE FOR EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS! 🙌🏾

Moses—and so many others throughout Scripture—felt insufficient for what God called them to do. But the call was never dependent on their sufficiency; God’s grace empowered them to produce extraordinary results!

A powerful word from Pastor Apollos Githinji of Ruiru, Kenya and an affirmation for us all: If God called you to it, His grace is sufficient to accomplish it.

Two years of faith. Two years of building. Two years of watching God establish This Rock Church on a sure foundation!

We are excited to celebrate our 2nd Church Anniversary and we want YOU to celebrate with us!

Join Pastor Shannon Thomas, First Lady Amanda Thomas and the entire This Rock Church family as we thank God for all He has done—and look with expectation toward all that is still to come.

Pastor Shannon preached an excellent and CHALLENGING word today!

“Relationship Over Religion” — Matthew 9:9–13

And whew…the Holy Ghost had us examining our hearts!

In a world where truth is increasingly blurred and we’re told there are many paths to God, Pastor reminded us that the Word of God does not mingle with other belief systems. There is ONE WAY—and that way is Jesus Christ.

He taught about the danger of syncretism-mixing the truth of God’s Word with beliefs and practices that contradict it. Little by little, what God calls wrong can become normalized, accepted, and eventually called right- which is the definition of reprobate!

But the Word didn’t leave room for us to simply examine everybody else.

The Holy Ghost turned the mirror toward us.

Are we practicing religion—or are we truly in relationship with Jesus?
Are we communicating with Him?
Are we obeying Him?
Have we become comfortable with something God has called us out of?
Have we allowed the culture to influence our convictions more than the Word of God?

Because religion can become performance, but relationship requires obedience.

Such a timely, convicting and necessary Word. Lord, search our hearts.
