Use these discussion questions to dive deeper into Sunday's message and explore how you might have declared your misaligned beliefs none of God’s business:

1. How does the truth that we are Christ’s ambassadors (Corinthians 5:20) challenge your opinions and attitudes? Are there any areas of your life — work, school, home and others — where what you say and how you act may not align with how Jesus would if He were there?

2. When Pastor John talked about filling in the blank with people you “just don’t care for,” was there a particular group that came to mind for you? Why? How can remembering that Jesus died for them start to soften your heart and change your view toward them?

3. What is one thing you can do this week to submit your core beliefs to God and allow Him to make you new from the inside out?

There are many people who profess to be followers of Jesus, but at the same time, they hold attitudes, opinions, and beliefs that do not align with the character and nature of Jesus.

At their core, the things they believe are in direct contradiction to the Bible, and for some reason, they don’t seem to see the problem with it. This week’s message is called “Core Contradictions.”

Tomorrow, Oct. 17, is National Pasta Day — a day all about eating, sharing, and celebrating pasta. 🍝

In light of this unofficial food holiday, we want to know which pasta dish is your favorite. Choose from the options shown in the photo or comment with something else that isn't on this list.

The pasta-bilities are endless. 😅

For this week’s discussion questions, we are using the framework Pastor John shared during Sunday's message to examine the things that we allow in our lives.

First, make a list of things you have been led to believe are none of God’s business (examples include your time, money, relationships, business dealings, religious beliefs and more). Then, walk through your list one item at a time and ask the following questions:

1. Does this stand against the clear knowledge of Christ? Have I set myself up to oppose God’s Word?

2. Am I seeing this only from a worldly perspective? Have I even considered what God says?

3. Am I adding to or taking away from the Word of God? Am I over-emphasizing or down-playing something God said for Himself?

4. For this item, will it be my way or the high way?

In Luke 22:42, Jesus said that He wanted to accomplish the will of God, not His own. That means there will be times when we have to choose between what we want and what God wants. When we come to those forks in the road, there is a simple question we have to ask ourselves: “Will I choose my way or the high way?” This question is also the title of this week’s message.

Today is World Mental Health Day — and a perfect time to remind you that your story matters. Seeking help and talking to someone about what you might be going through is not a sign of weakness.

Comment below with any tips or techniques you use to strengthen your mental health. Things like journaling, taking time to rest and limiting your exposure to stressful situations or stimuli are all helpful practices.

At Covenant Life, we want you to know that we see you, and we're here for you. Please reach out to our church if you need prayer or help of any kind.

Check out this week’s discussion questions to dive deeper into the content of Sunday’s message, Broken and Baited. Feel free to go through these questions alone or with your family, friends or fellow Grow Group members.

1. How does it make you feel to know that desires on their own are not bad and that it is not a sin to be tempted? How can you ensure you’re meeting desires in a way that’s pleasing to God?

2. Of the examples in the message (p**n, drugs, alcohol, working too much, an eating disorder, etc.), which resonates with you most? How have your struggles brought guilt or shame in your life?

3. Take time to seriously consider and answer the questions at the end of the sermon. What bait did the enemy use to catch you? What was the desire or unmet need that made you want it?

4. Who is someone in your life you can talk to you as you seek healing, freedom and forgiveness? If you're married, we challenge you start a conversation with your spouse about the hurts and hang-ups that may be causing you pain. If you need help or support, please don't hesitate to contact our church.
