We have had three more men complete the Inner Healing process at The Blake House, and we cannot say enough how proud we are of every man who follows through on this commitment.
Inner Healing is more than just healing. It is a cutting away of the flesh. It is getting outside of yourself. It is revealing parts of your heart that you swore you would never tell anyone. It is being confronted with the lies you have believed about yourself and understanding how those lies have shaped the way you live. It is feeling emotions and facing triggers that you have ignored for years.
These three men walked back through some of the darkest moments of their lives and found victory on the other side.
Jeff (pictured on the right) invited God and his brothers into one of the deepest wounds of his life, his struggle with rejection. Growing up in a broken home and not getting to see his father as much as he should have, Jeff came to believe he was not worthy and that no one truly loved him.
During Inner Healing, Jeff returned to the room where, at just 12 years old, he had planned what he thought would be his last weekend on earth. He believed life would never get any better. That weekend, he went to church and heard someone say that su***de was an unforgivable sin. Instead of hearing hope, he believed he had been rejected by God and was forced to carry his depression alone.
But God met Jeff in that painful memory and healed the wounds of rejection. Today, Jeff is able to say, "I am loved. God wants me. I have nothing to offer, nothing that God NEEDS, but God still WANTS me. And that is because He truly loves me."
Sean (pictured on the left) spent the early part of his childhood with his mom after his parents divorced. Divorce affects children in ways they often cannot understand or even recognize. Sean was taken to therapists and psychiatrists where he was repeatedly told, "Something is wrong with you."
That became a core belief that the enemy used to convince Sean he was unworthy of God's love. But Scripture tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. It also tells us to come as we are, and Sean has done exactly that. He worships and prays as if he is the only one in the room, completely unashamed of his love for Christ. Sean no longer believes that something is wrong with him. He knows he is a son of God, adopted into His family through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Nathan (pictured in the middle) could never outrun the truth. Every twist and turn in his life was followed by guilt and remorse for the choices he made and even for things that happened to him that were outside of his control. He believed he had to be perfect to belong in the church, but because of mistakes he made at a young age, he convinced himself he would never be worthy of being part of God's family.
That is one of the enemy's greatest tactics: shame. Shame says, "I am a mistake." Guilt says, "I made a mistake."
Shame had been a stronghold in Nathan's life for years, but God revealed the truth. Nathan is a leader. He carries tremendous influence. He loves his brothers deeply and genuinely cares for those around him. He is no longer defined by the kid who was bullied in school. He is defined by the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.
We are incredibly proud of these men, and we cannot wait to watch their identity in Christ continue to grow.
Please join us in thanking God that men are still finding healing through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pray that many more men and women will experience the same freedom and healing that these three courageous men have found.
