Sandlin Chapel Methodist Church is located in the unincorporated area of Bremen, AL in the Dorsey Creek Valley. The church ceased to be a part of the United Methodist Church a few years ago, but it remains strong in the history and traditions of the Methodist church, as its earlier members were.
The present day church building was built in 1882. Alfred Sandlin donated about 1.5 acres of land and James Childers donated about 1.5 acres of adjoining land for the new building site. This church building is one of the oldest in present day Cullman County, AL and is listed on the Alabama Historic Register for Churches.
The original log, pre-Civil War Methodist church building was located about 1.5 miles north on Hwy 69 where the Sandlin Cemetery is located. It burned at some point in time. Although the present day church building and Sandlin Cemetery are now geographically separated, they remain interconnected as most members and their families of the Sandlin Chapel Methodist Church are buried in the Sandlin Cemetery to this day.
