SUMMER SPROUTS! 🌞

Outdoors on the church lawn following the Children’s Moment during the 10:30 service.

Children ages 3–12 are invited to join us on the church lawn for Summer Sprouts as we become “nature explorers!” Together we’ll discover the beauty of God’s creation through observation. Dress for the weather and come ready to notice the wonder all around us! Kids can join Jenny and friends after the Children's Moment.

This week at Summer Sprouts: We'll become bird detectives as we listen carefully to the sounds around us, search for signs of birds on our church grounds, and discover some amazing facts about our feathered neighbors. Through games, exploration, and a nest-building challenge, we'll learn how God has equipped birds in remarkable ways to live, fly, and thrive in creation. Dress for the weather and bring your best listening ears!

Question of the week for May 31: What is one way you've changed that would surprise your younger self?

Engage with the Expanding Connection Book Club as we read Everyday Ubuntu.
June 16 at 7 p.m. the group will gather on Zoom for spirit-filled conversation.

Mungi Ngomane, granddaughter of Nobel Peace Prize–winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu, offers an introduction to ubuntu, the Southern African philosophy that celebrates the universal human bond in this beautiful definitive guide, illustrated with full-color photos and filled with lessons on how to live harmoniously with all people.

“This book will open your eyes, mind and heart to a way of being in the world that will make our world a better and more caring one.”-Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Ubuntu is a Xhosa word originating from a South African philosophy that encapsulates all our aspirations about how to live life well, together. It is the belief in a universal human bond and deep human connection: I am only because you are. And it means that if you are able to see everyone as fully human, connected to you by their humanity, you will never be able to treat others as disposable or without worth. By embracing the philosophy of ubuntu and living it out in daily life it’s possible to overcome division and be stronger together in a world where the wise build bridges, not walls.

This Sunday (5/31) at Summer Sprouts: Explorers will discover the tiny creatures living all around us as we go on a bug hunt and learn why insects are an important part of God’s creation. Children will use observation skills to look closely at the world beneath their feet and create their own imaginative “nature bugs” using materials gathered outdoors. Dress for the weather — and maybe a little dirt!
