5 Minute Disciple A public place of encouragement relating to the Christian life and practical application of Scripture We are united in conservative Christian thought.

Gates is a group of mature Christian men (ages ranging roughly from 30yrs old to 55yrs old) All serving at different ministries and attending separate Churches in the Lafayette, Louisiana area. The city "gates" or the "Town square" is a place where Elders would gather for discussion and share wisdom in Biblical times. Proverbs 31:23 "Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders

of the land." Proverbs 31 describes an exceptional women/ wife- and in doing so the passage references the city Gates. Our mission for this page is to create a virtual town square where Biblically sound Mature Men can offer up words of wisdom, practical advice, and other post that are meant to display the example to our fellow believers. In a mentoring sense and also as Iron sharpening Iron (Proverbs 27:17)

If your heart is renewed, if you hate the sin you once loved, and love the law of God you once hated; if you have really repented; if there is a thorough change of mind in you; if you are born again, then you have reason to rejoice: but if there is no vital change, no inward godliness; if there be no love to God, no prayer, no work of the Holy Spirit, then saying "I am saved" is merely your own assertion, and it may delude, but it will not deliver you from the consequences of sin."
