Today we are asking you to pray for some of the people involved in making legal decisions for these families and children.
First, pray for the judges. They have an incredibly heavy burden and responsibility to make life altering decisions that affect these families in a major way, often after having mere moments to glance through the file containing all of the relevant information. They have an enormous amount of cases and must make these decisions relatively quickly. It is an unimaginable burden and responsibility. Pray for godly wisdom and insight to make good decisions and that all that is hidden in darkness will be brought to light.
Next, pray for the attorneys that represent the children as well as the ones that represent their parents. These attorneys are responsible for gathering information about the case and presenting a recommendation to the judge, which also carries a life altering burden of responsibility. They carry very large caseloads with many families and have often not even met the children that they represent. Pray that they would have eyes to see and ears to hear the details that will help them make recommendations to the judge that are in the best interest of the children.
And lastly, pray for the Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA’s for short. These are hard working volunteers who give of their time and compassion to build relationships with children who are in need of an additional advocate. They are able to give information to the judge, which can be of great value and potentially sway a case. They are an impartial set of eyes and ears for a vulnerable child. Pray for wisdom, compassion and endurance in doing good.
Psalm 10:17-18 “O Lord, You hear the desire of the afflicted; You will strengthen their heart; You will incline Your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.”
