Deprecated A spiritual brotherhood of monks and selfless workers dedicated to the service of humanity with non-sectarian, non-communal and non-political outlook

Bharat Sevashram Sangha West-California chapter was founded in June 2004 and operated an Ashram at 9493 Garfield Street, Riverside until May 2011. As membership grew, we needed a larger venue for fulfilling the Ashram's goals and objectives. We have now moved to a new location in Brea (5600 Carbon Canyon Road). Tranquil, natural, and scenic are a few of the words that describe the effortless beaut

y of our new temple. Here, one feels separated from the rest of the world, as in Rishikesh in India. Please come, join and take a tour to experience the solitary beauty, exotic landscape, spectacular and beautiful sites. Natural beauty, mountains and forests makes it one of the most stunning place. People in this part of Southern California can reach our Brea Temple easily. It’s a quiet place with abundant parking available even on the weekends. The neighborhood is welcoming and safe. The Temple is now a place of great divine beauty and peace. It is breathtakingly beautiful. It is a great place for people looking for a powerful escape from everyday demanding life and divulge it’s panoramic beauty. To summarize in short, our Brea BSSW Ashram is a swell destination. This Ashram is not just a place for worship, but also a center of learning. It’s specific purpose will be to create, assist and foster spiritual, moral and cultural heritage of India through teachings. The BSS-West objective is to establish a spiritual brotherhood among Hindus and other communities living in Southern California. To discover the self within, one must periodically foster selfless, non-sectarian, non-communal and non-political service to humanity. Just like the parent BSS, BSS-West is registered under Sec 503(c), non-profit, socio-cultural, religion, educational & philanthropic organization. BSS-West will not merely serve as a place of worship and service, but also act as a place for learning Hindu religion, culture, history and traditions.

--- Letter from Second Harvest Food Bank to Dipak Sarkar , President BSS
Dear Dipak,
Thank you for your generous gift received on 5/13/2020. At Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, we were serving over 290,000 Orange County residents before the COVID-crisis began. Since then, in response to the rapidly-increasing need in our community, we have expanded our food sourcing, modified our distribution methods and maintained our support of pantries and partners who remain open during this pandemic. This has deeply impacted our operations. Our response to the crisis and our ability to keep the food flowing to those in need is made possible because of donors like you. On behalf of our community and program partners, our board, our dedicated volunteers, our staff, and all those we serve, we thank you.
Cynthia, 66 years-old and in a high-risk category for contracting COVID-19, was recently laid off from the job she’d held since she was 14. Her company let her go out of concern for her health, but that now puts her and her husband Howard at an even more imminent risk of going hungry. The pair have always served others with their volunteer work, but now they must rely on others for the food they need to survive. They expressed deep gratitude for the food they’ve received at our Saturday food distribution saying that while they’ve never had a need to receive assistance in the past, they most certainly have that need now. With your donation, we are able to keep our emergency response efforts going during the COVID-19 crisis. You have come through when we needed you the most. Together, we will create a future in which no one goes hungry. Ever.

The current outbreak of Corona Virus has created a period of great tension, fear and sense of personal and social insecurity throughout the world. Many are suffering both here and in India due to stress, hunger and loss of a means of livelihood. Bharat Sevashram Sangha in their tradition of providing disaster relief is working hard to alleviate distress among people suffering both here and in India.

Bharat Sevashram Sangha in India is feeding over 100,000 people every day during the lockdown period. Food is being served in all ashrams including Ballygunge (20000 meals), Burdwan (20000 meals), Siliguri (20000 meals), Jalpaiguri and other ashrams,. Approximately 30000 people are being provided with rations including Rice, Dal, Oil and Salt.

As a service to the local community we contacted Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. They are currently not accepting individual food donations due to Corona virus outbreak but have a virtual food donation scheme whereby items in their food list can be donated online. Accordingly, we donated food to provide a total of 718 meals. With your generous help we plan to continue this food donation effort during this pandemic.

From our previous donation appeals to you, 20 devotees have thus far donated a total of $2,942. We appeal to the rest of you devotees to make a generous donation for this noble effort. To help, please send your donation check in the name of 'BHARAT SEVASHRAM SANGHA WEST' with a note of Covid-19 Relief Fund in the memo, and mail it to.
