We are called to model God’s heart, in a way that mirrors His motives to save us. God shows himself loyal to the promises of the past, and to his people in the present through the sending of his son. God’s loyalty is displayed even when sin is present. Paul manifests this same loyalty to the believers that have wrong him in 2 Corinthians.

When wronged, how can you respond in a way that reveals God’s heart towards sinners?

What is the difference between compassion and sympathy?

Compassion causes us to suffer with and for others while sympathy allows us to see that pain from a safe distance.

God allows his people to suffer so that we will grow in compassion for others. It is through suffering, where we learn to put our trust in Him and use our struggles as a platform to comfort those with the same comfort He has given us. “Others” could range from friend to stranger, ally to enemy. How compassionate are you? In what ways have your struggles allowed you to share God’s comfort?

Just a little reminder: Whether you are participating in a Journey Group this season or engaging in your personal study, these words ring true.

A psalmist wrote, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11). If you write down a verse or passage that challenges or encourages you and reflect on it often for a week or more, you will find it beginning to affect your motives and actions. We forget quickly what we read once; we remember what we ponder.

Get plugged in. Join a Journey Group. Fall session starts now!

What is a journey group?
A journey group is a 3-5 person, gender-separate small group that meets weekly, in-person or virtually. The main purpose of the group is to grow in your faith, community, and ultimately love for the Lord.

This Fall we are about to beginning our study on 2 Corinthians. Journey group sessions run for 7-8 weeks seasonally (Fall, Winter, Spring). All experience levels are welcomed!
