Just a little history for you today! Tyndale… worth knowing about.
OTD in 1536, William Tyndale was executed for his work translating the Bible into English.
As he was strangled and burned at the stake, his final prayer was reportedly, “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.”
Within just a few years, English Bibles drawing heavily from Tyndale’s translation were authorized for use in English churches.
Tyndale died a condemned man, but his words would soon be read throughout England, and much of his translation still echoes through English Bibles today.
