1. Stop doing things that aren’t working so you can start doing some things that are working. I know this sounds so basic, but it’s amazing how long we will continue to do the same old thing, expecting a different result. Just because you’ve always done it that way doesn’t mean that’s the way you need to continue doing it.

2. Stop investing in relationships that are taking you nowhere so that you can start building relationships that will take you somewhere. You may love them dearly, but they are no longer good for you. God wants you to build your inner circle with people who can help make a positive impact in your life.

3. Stop trying to change other people, and just let the Holy Spirit change you.
No one can change anyone but God. Changing people is the Holy Spirit’s job, not yours.

4. Stop trying to please everybody and start just trying to please God. The truth is you are never going to please everybody, so set yourself free. Certainly, don’t aim to offend or hurt people, but you can’t please everybody. So, aim to please God.

5. Stop looking for the path of least resistance, and start embracing where God wants you to go. You’re not going to build the spiritual muscle you need if you only take the path of least resistance. There are no apps to snap and upload character or tenacity. We have to do the hard work of crucifying our flesh, obeying Jesus, and going the distance in our race.

6. Stop procrastinating, and start doing what you need to do. Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. If we’re not careful, “tomorrow” becomes the story of our lives.

7. Stop expecting people to be Jesus, and let Jesus be Jesus. A lot of the conflicts in our marriages and friendships could be eliminated if we quit expecting from others what we can only get from God. Let people be people. Let God be God.

8. Stop blaming others for where you are in life, and start making what Jesus did for you bigger than what anyone has ever done to you. Maybe you’ve had a past like mine where there’s been pain and abuse. It wasn’t our fault. We didn’t ask for it. But we can’t live our lives as victims. This is your year to make God bigger.

9. Stop being so hard on yourself, and start loving yourself. Jesus took all the commandments and summarized them into the two most important points: Love God, and love your neighbor as you love yourself (Matthew 22:36-40; Mark 12:29-3). Learn to truly love yourself so you can genuinely love others.

10. Stop doubting and start believing for the best. Even if all the world is in flux, let’s keep moving forward sharing the love and grace and mercy and goodness of God with everyone we encounter. We are women of God, women of prayer, women of faith. So let’s stop doubting and start believing for the best.

"Being on the stage during a worship service in a church conveys a sense of leadership and authority, whether you are a worship leader, making announcements, or delivering a sermon.

Similar to having a corner office in a business, being on the church stage signifies a position of influence recognized by the congregation.

Regardless of your stance on a woman delivering the message, providing regular opportunities for her to be in front during weekend services is crucial for effective leadership. Acknowledging her service on stage, even without speaking, can enhance her ability to lead within the church community."

"How do you discern God’s call in your life?

I talked with women at seminaries across the country and asked them. Their stories taught me three important things about women, leadership, and calling:

First, personality does not predict leadership ability. Leaders are not always extroverts. They’re not always loud or strong-willed or dreamers. God calls the loud and the quiet, the verbal processors and the introspective, the figureheads and the behind-the-scenes strategists. Your personality may be different than your pastor’s or your favorite teacher’s, but that doesn’t mean you’re not called.

Second: no story of calling is the same. When it comes to calling, many of us want a burning bush. We want a clear word from God, an easy path, and no roadblocks. However even in Scripture, no story of calling was the same. Moses had a burning bush, but Joseph had a dream, Mary had an angel, and David had Samuel. Every story was different, and the same is true for us.

Third: Calling comes through community. Every woman’s story was different, but they all had this in common: people who supported them. Each woman had a family member, a friend, a pastor, a mentor, or a professor who identified her gifts and helped her cultivate them. It was these affirmations that empowered them to push through their fears and self-doubt.

Is community the only way God calls? Definitely not. But in most cases, your community helps you to see things you cannot see yourself.

If you think you might be called to ministry, but you’re afraid, or you’re unsure, or you doubt yourself, just take a moment to listen. What does your family, friends, pastor, or mentor see in you? Even if it’s only one person, consider taking them seriously. They might be sent by God.

And if you’re still scared, remember this: Moses was too. So was Jonah, Jeremiah, and over half the women I talked to. There is a long history of God calling people who try to talk their way out of it. You are not alone. Thankfully, the same God who called Moses, Jonah, Mary, and Paul, the God who used them to do mighty things in His name, is the God calling you."
