Have you ever waited so long for something that you stopped expecting it to happen?

That is where Sarah found herself in our message this past Sunday. After years of waiting, years of disappointment, and years of wondering if God’s promise would ever come true, she laughed when she heard that she would have a child. It wasn’t the laughter of joy, it was the laughter of someone who had learned not to get her hopes up.

Yet God met Sarah in that place of doubt and weariness with a simple question:

“Is anything too wonderful for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14)

Sometimes life teaches us to lower our expectations. We stop praying certain prayers. We stop dreaming certain dreams. We stop believing that healing, reconciliation, growth, or new beginnings are possible.

But the good news of the gospel is that God’s faithfulness does not depend on our certainty. God keeps working even when we cannot see it. God keeps showing up even when we have stopped expecting it.

This week, consider: Where have you given up hope? And what might God still be doing there?

Grace and peace,
Brother Jesse

☀️ You’re Invited to Worship at Brantley United Methodist Church!

Last week we heard God’s call. This week we are reminded that the God who calls is also the God who keeps every promise.

Join us as we hear the story of Abraham and Sarah and discover how God’s faithfulness can turn doubt into joy.

Midweek Reflection ✝️

This past Sunday, we reflected on the beautiful truth that every person is created in the image of God. Before we are anything else, before our jobs, successes, failures, or labels, we are beloved children of God, created by the One who made heaven and earth.

Jesus then sends us into the world with a mission: "Go and make disciples of all nations." That mission begins by seeing others the way God sees them, with dignity, worth, and love.

As you move through this week, consider this question: How might your interactions change if you remembered that every person you encounter bears the image of God?

As C. S. Lewis wrote, "There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal."

May God help us see His image in our neighbors, our friends, our families, and even those with whom we disagree.

Grace and peace to you this week. ❤️

Brantley United Methodist Church

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 AM as we gather for worship on Trinity Sunday.

On Trinity Sunday, we celebrate the mystery and beauty of God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A God who creates, redeems, and sustains us. Together we’ll worship, pray, sing, and be reminded that we are all created in God’s image and called to share God’s love with the world.

There’s a place for you at Brantley UMC. We hope to see you Sunday morning!

Today, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to others. On Memorial Day, we honor sacrifice, grieve loss, and hold in prayer the families and communities who carry that absence every day.

As followers of Christ, we remember that peace is not found in power or division, but in love, mercy, and the hope of resurrection. May we be people who work for healing, reconciliation, and care for one another.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

We pray for comfort for the grieving, peace for the world, and courage to love our neighbors well.
