“Sacred Reflections” with Apostle Lydia Torres

Why do we suffer? This is a question that all people ask sooner or later. There are solid reasons why we suffer. Genesis 3:17: Adam fell into sin when he disobeyed God, and this ushered in pain, sickness, and death. Romans 5:3-5 tells us our trials come to build endurance, patience, and maturity. These are all necessary for spiritual growth and character development. Hardships strip away self-reliance and force us to rely on God's strength rather than our own 2 Corinthians 4:7-12. God also uses trials as a loving Father to redirect, train, or correct His children Hebrews 12:7-11. There is a necessary component of faith development that only comes through persecution for the faith. Living a devoted, godly life often invites pushback or hostility from the world; 2 Timothy 3:12 and Philippians 1:29 warn us of this. Lastly, God looks to build us up in areas of empathy and comfort by letting us go through the loss of others. This equips us to give people comfort in the face of similar trials. Many will be fully developed in God so we do not question why suffering is necessary in our lives.
