This coming Sunday (10/17) at 10:30 Northwoods UU Fellowship will gather for a service at the Cole building in Pequot MN, with Jan Kurtz presenting about "We and They are Us."

Many of us know Jan through folk dancing and through her teaching Spanish. She worked with Central American refugees on the Overground Railroad of the 1980's. She has organized Latino festivals at Central Lakes Community College, and she founded the Cultural Thursdays series that is in its 26th year there.

Jan is the author of Northern Shores/Southern Borders: Revelations of a Bilingual Life.

This is not a full scale potluck, but bring whatever yummies you want to bring. I will be bringing deviled eggs and whole wheat orange cranberry nut bread. Come at 10 if you want to hang out and socialize. You can also join us via zoom.

On Thursday July 25 Northwoods UU will go on a field trip to Giiwitaagiizhig Treaty Rights and Culture Museum in Park Rapids MN.

We will meet at 10 at the chamber of commerce (log building, just off of hwy 371) in Pine River, and arrive at the museum at around 11.

Afterward, we will get food at Adobo Burritos in Park Rapids and eat at the restaurant or at a park.

On Thursday August 15 we will have a field trip to the National Loon Center in Cross lake, meeting there at 10, and having a potluck picnic afterwards.

Since the children had such a wonderful time at the splash pad while the adults watched the film last week, perhaps we could have a UU service at the park shelter in Pequot on Sunday August 5 or 26. Does anyone want to do the homily?

On Saturday March 2 at 10 a.m. Northwoods UU Fellowship will have a zoom service in which we will discuss what our members learned from attending Back to Basics, the annual earth-care, sustainable living event by Happy Dancing Turtle.

Our focus will be the content of the keynote speech, about the impact of climate change upon northern MN.

Also, at 1 p.m. the Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace will be holding a peace vigil, regarding Israel/Gaza, in Brainerd. Come join us, hold a sign, wave at supportive drivers, and talk with some fantastic people!

Location of the vigil to be announced.

On Sunday January 28 Northwoods UU Fellowship will gather via zoom at 11:30. We will share our reflections regarding the following:

Remember that you are water.
cry cleanse flow let go

Remember that you are fire.
burn tame adapt ignite

Remember that you are air.
observe breathe focus decide

Remember that you are earth.
ground give build heal

Remember that you are spirit.
connect listen know be still

Remember that you are snow.
be silent fall gently be beautiful

I used to believe that I was separate.
Then I believed that I was a drop in the ocean.
Then I learned that I am the ocean.
I am.

One of the UU principles is "we are part of the interdependent web of all beings."

If you would like to join us, please email [email protected] and we will send you the zoom link.
