06/06/2026

Good bright and sunny morning to you all. Enjoy the beautiful day while you can as it looks like we might get a little wet this afternoon. But, hey, Those new vegetables and flowers you've planted need their nourishment. All in all this is a wonderful weekend to savor the essence of God in our midst as his creation shouts alleluia all around us.

The Psalm for this Sunday is one used often to give thanks for the Lord bringing us through trials and illness restored. "I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. ... What shall I return to the Lord for all his bounty to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord." God will carry us through so many events in this life, some seemingly impossible, that our faith may grow stronger to trust him with our very lives, come what may.

We return to Genesis this Sunday to find the Lord paying a visit to Abraham and Sarah by the oaks of Mamre. Upons seeing the Lord Abraham set out to prepare a feast of honor and thanks. A meal of choice flour baked into cakes and the meat of a tender young calf, curds and milk was set before them. They asked of Abraham where was his wife Sarah, then expressed that they would return in due season and Sarah shall have a son. This of course was a seemingly impossible thing to happen as they were quite old by then, she beyond childbearing age. Sarah heard the conversation and laughed to herself, "After I have grown old and my husband is old, shall I have pleasure?" The Lord then reaffirmed that he would return in due season and Sarah would indeed bear a son. Even the most faithful can have moments of doubt in their journey, but God will still carry out his plans in our lives to his glory.

Paul's letter to the church at Rome expresses some of the benefits of following and loving and creative God who acts in our lives to help us grow strong and faithful in our relationship with him. While it seems illogical that our sins are forgiven by the actions of one Savior, Paul introduces that one word 'justified' to express how we have peace in God's presence. "Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God." It is by our faith, the same faith of Abrham and Sarah, that brings righteousness into our lives - and that faith is also a gift given us by the one who forgives us. Covered by the blood of Christ to redeem us, God looks upon us 'just-as-if-I'd' never had sin. This faith we have been given helps us to face the world, gives us strength to carry on. "we boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us."

Share God's love with all whom you may encounter. Be the hands and feet of Christ in the world. Let us work together to be the light God's kingdom in a dark and lost work gone astray. This is a communion Sunday, Bring someone along to worship or join us online and share in the elements with us as we remember our love Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sunday is the last day to bring items for the garage sale but name brand pop and your offerings for baked goods are still welcome. Thank you for all your help.

Shalom,
Dale

Call to Worship:
This morning amidst the strife and fear in the world; we wonder if we will ever feel happy again.
We need something to lift us up.
That’s it! Jesus reminded us of God’s love!
It’s God’s love that surpasses all our troubles!
We are forgiven and made new in Jesus Christ.
Every day and in every way He reaches out and lifts us up! Hallelujah!
Let us worship the Lord our God with all hope.

Gracious and forgiving Father, we humbly come before you in need of healing and joy. Our hearts are heavy with the evil in the world around us. Rather than hearts of love and compassion, we are filled with anger and fear. In these days when we should turn all of our focus on you to guide us, instead we focus on the news and the “boob-tube.” Forgive our unfaithfulness and help us to turn to you, to pray with you, to seek your word in our lives. Help us find once again the joy and laughter of being your people. (Silent Prayer)

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving
Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed.
Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is right and a good and joyous thing, always and everywhere, to give you praise, Creator of heaven and earth.
You took the formless chaos, swept across it with your mighty Spirit, and said, “Let there be light!” And there was light.
You separated the heavens and earth, and brought forth trees and plants. You set sun, moon and starts in the heavens, and called forth fish, birds and all living creatures.
You made us creatures of your own image, to live in communion with you.
We long for relationship with you, yet we turn away. Still you remain steadfast, calling us again and again to turn to you.
For your prevenient grace and all your mercies toward us, we join your people on earth and all the company of heaven in proclaiming your praise:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Holy are you, and blessed is your Son, Jesus Christ. You gave Jesus all authority in heaven and on earth, and so we follow him.
Jesus called us to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in your Triune name, and teaching them to obey everything that you commanded.
Jesus promised to be with us always, to the end of the age. On the day of his resurrection, he walked with two followers to Emmaus and sitting at table with them, Jesus took bread, blessed it and broke it, and they saw the mystery of faith:

Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon these, the gifts of your creation: grain, grapes, and us your children. Strengthen us to do your will, to baptize and to teach, and to always walk with Jesus Christ.
Through him, with the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, Almighty God, now and forever. Amen.
The Lord’s prayer

05/30/2026

Coming off an awesome week of celebrating the birth of the church, memorializing our country's fallen heroes and commemorating our youth as they advance in their education and just enjoying an overall great weather week. Here we are on the last day of May, basking in the full-on beauty of our God's wonderful creation given us for our enjoyment, nourishment and well-being, saying Thank You, Awesome God, Heavenly Father! In fact, we celebrate this first Sunday following Pentecost as Trinity Sunday.

It is quite appropriate that our first readings start at the first chapter of Genesis' telling of the six days of creation and the Sabbath. These readings are cherished by believers of many faiths as a good accounting of how things came into being. At each step of the way when God created, at the end of the "day" God declared what was created was Good! On the sixth day we read these words, "Let us make humankind in OUR image, according to OUR likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish, the birds, the cattle and wild animals, and every creeping thing." In his creation, God provided all that we would ever need in life. "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their multitude. And on the seventh day God finished the work he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all work he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it because God rested from all the work he had done in creation." A lot of controversy between believers and non, religion and science, not to mention the very next chapter gives another accounting for creation. Word for word truth or a narrative explanation written for those whom God chose to carry out his work in this world, it remains the foundation of our faith and our beginnings as God's people in all generations.

The Psalm for Sunday expresses the intimate relationship we have with the Divine. "O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. ... When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; What are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You have given them dominion over the works of your hands." We have a creator who cherishes us humans as God's greatest creation of all. We are no accident in the grand scheme of all things, rather we are the Purpose for which God created all things and desires to be in communion with us personally above all.

In Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, we are reminded: "Examine yourselves to see whether you are living in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?" ... Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace: and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you." The word Trinity may not be found anywhere in scripture, but from the earliest days of the church and in the Gospels we find many allusions to 'God in Three Persons' or three manifestations of our heavenly Father interacting in our lives.

The Gospel of Matthew brings us to Jesus' final farewell and commissioning his eleven disciples upon the mountain in Galilee. "Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. God therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'" God's plan to bring salvation to all peoples on earth has been set in motion and continues yet to this day. But the task at hand is not yet complete. We still have much to do as God's children to show the lost and dying world that they are loved. Let us be about being Christ in this world to someone in need and may we use all the power bestowed upon us and in us by our Triune Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer; God in three persons, Blessed Trinity.

Go! Go and make disciples even to the ends of the earth, or at least next door and down the street. Trinity blessings to you all this wonderful weekend,

Shalom,
Dale

05/23/2026

Welcome to Memorial day weekend. School's out (or nearly) for Summer. Many, many busy days and weekends ahead to be filled with activities, vacations, travels and game galore. But this Monday we pause not to say "Happy" Memorial Day for it is a solemn day to honor those women and men who gave their all for the sake of us all. For over 250 years patriots have fought to provide or to preserve the freedoms we embrace today, yet it is the sacrifice of those who never returned home that we honor this weekend. We may stop to thank a veteran in the process, but not to overshadow the fallen that we honor. Blessings and prayers to any who still bear the scars of grief over a loved one who didn't return to the love of family.

In the church the day we've anticipated for fifty days since Easter has come as we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the church. Pentecost in the Christian church is reflective of the Jewish festival of weeks, one of three required festivals of Old Testament faithful worshippers to return to Jerusalem to worship God. In our modern worship we celebrate that our risen Lord and Savior, gone into heaven to be with the Father, sent the Holy Spirit to all who would call upon his name. So we consider this to be the beginning of not a new different church but a new way of being God's people in the world and receiving the power of the One who redeemed us to complete the tasks to which we are called.

Our Acts passage begins, "When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. ... this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel: In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men dream dreams. ... Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Indeed the Holy Spirit led the Israelites of old from Abraham and beyond. At Pentecost God chose to dwell within the hearts and minds of all believers henceforth and forever more.

In the passage from 1 Corinthians Paul enumerates the gifts we have received from God through the indwelling Holy Spirit. "No one can say 'Jesus is Lord' except by the Holy Spirit." Paul continues with the many varieties of gifts that come from the same Spirit. Not all receive the same gifts but in the unity of the church all the gifts work together for the unity of the body. "Al; these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses." Ours is to discern what gifts the Spirit has given us that we would share and use them for the benefit of God's kingdom and Christ's body, the church.

The Gospel for Sunday is two passages combined from John's Gospel. "On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, 'Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. ... Out of the believers heart shall flow rivers of living water." And later, "When it was evening on that day, Jesus came and stood among them and said,'Peace be with you.' And after he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. ... Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you. Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." Ultimately forgiveness comes from the Lord who loves his people enough to die for us. The point here is that with his Spirit dwelling within us we have access to some amazing power from on high. With his Spirit to guide us and teach us we have the power to be Christ in the world, to love and to forgive and bring words of healing and hope into the world. And as we cling together as the body of Christ we have even greater power to show God's love in all we do for the sake of the kingdom.

A reminder to wear something red to worship tomorrow. Just a reminder and a fun way to express who we are in the unity of the church. What a great day to invite someone to join you in worship. I look forward to seeing you all in church. Love to you all!

Shalom,
Dale

We Give Thanks to God

Prayer (Unison)
O Heavenly Father, we thank you, for the gift of your Spirit in our lives, making us to be your church. We thank you for the gifts given to each of us, to create your beloved community here. Lord Jesus, make us to know your Spirit within, that we may listen. Fill us so our lives cannot contain it all. Let your Spirit spill out and shine forth in our lives, that we would bless others with your love. Make us to be Pentecost people to reach others in love and caring. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Christ is alive! He died and rose again that we would be set free, forgiven and receive eternal life. Christ has given his Holy Spirit to all who call upon his name. He offers us life abundant. What great news for us – how can you possibly selfishly keep that to yourself? He gives us a purpose to love the lost - even as He loved us. GO! Share the Good News of God’s love with someone and invite them to join you and give church a try.
